For some reason I always pictured Maria with a staff as a weapon, since it was different. So if Shadow wasn't there to save her, she'd have a weapon to defend herself with if she had to fight. this picture is over a year old, and when I do draw Maria with a staff, it looks completely different from the one she's holding in this picture, but this is still one of my favorite pictures
