Description Acrylic, 11X14"

Just another practice painting. This is my cat, orpheus. I can tell I need a lot more practice drawing (realistic) cats. But the cement looks great, IMO!

What an awesome painting! I thought it was a photo at first!

It's funny, because even though I see its many, many flaws, I still forget sometimes too! Something about that cement makes it look like a photo in thumbnail.

I have featured this nice work in my DA journal. Hope that's ok.

this kitty looks so much like the two I once had, Natasha and Faux Paws ('cause she had, you know, fo' paws like all cats do). Anyway, I like the sweet expression you've given this kitty of yours

"Faux Paws" !

I am so adding that to my list of great cat names (yes, I have a list). My coworker has one named "Jinx." You know with a name like "Jinx" that it's a cat, and exactly what kind of cat, no explanation needed. I can't say the same for my cats' chosen names. Guess that's why we tend to just call them "Fluffbutt" (pictured) and "Princess." *sigh*

I'm thinking of Raoul for my next cat. My mom once named a cat Dammit so she could stick her head out the door and bellow, "here dammit!"

That is really, really good. I've tried a couple black cats (in watercolor) and I haven't had one turn out.

Yeah, this is why I started my first realistic cat painting with my tuxie instead of my solid black cat. Black=hard to paint. At least I had white whiskers, etc. to bring out his features. And alas, I still don't think it looks like my cat. It looks like *a* cat, just not the one I was trying to draw. (sigh)

Excellent, I seriously though it was a photo from the thumbnail Love the view angle, much better then the normal front or side on take. I agree, the texture of the concrete works very well.

Thank you! This is my favorite cat angle in general, when they look up at you with cat indignation that you dare - *DARE* - to be so much taller than they are.
