I will be honest, I was dreading watching this video. I personally never understood why people hate Flash, all he is is underdeveloped, and I'm glad you were able to point this out in your video. I had been expecting it to be just a trash/hate vid on his character, but you were able to bring to surface his positive and negative traits, how hes portrayed, and how you bring up what could be done to make him a better character.
I really hope that, at some point, Flash and Shining both get more screen time and development. I agree with you in the aspect that I would love to see more male characters have important roles in this series. both for the characters we have, like Flash, Big Mac, Spike, and shining, and possibly any other stallion introduced in the series.
I am a fan of Flash, I am not afraid to admit it, and I hope that some day he can be redeemed and given a proper story arch that the fans can enjoy.

To this day for me, Flash Sentry (both versions) has a cookie-cutter personality thought up and written down in two minutes just to give his character any semblance of being a non-background pony. Is Hasbro just jonesing on making new characters aesthetically pleasing from now on? What happened to telling a good story?

Just saw your review, great points! I didn't notice how bronies cry foul about Flash not having a personality or conflict, yet we've taken countless background ponies and gave them said personality and conflict! It's kinda messed up!

As Bronies we've been nitpicking small aspects of several characters and giving them their own personalities since the show started, so to whine about Flash being bland is not only lazy, but also hypocritical.
Heck, the mane six THEMSELVES are stereotypes in their own sense!
Oh, and one last thing that proves that Flash-haters are all just a bunch of hypocrites:
If Flash had been introduced as a female, no one would've CARED, if anything they'd be singing a different tune and shipping them like everyone else because "OMG GIRL-ON-GIRL IS SO HAWT!!"

Ugh oh boy here we go...and thank you for this because I probably wouldn't be able to contain my rage about him. You did address one thing I always have against him and it's my biggest beef with him. The Fact that fans see Brad and Flash are the same when really...hes not. And even if he was ....that's not much to go on either.
People treat him like a character but he's not...he's a wooden stump that says "Fan girl service" carved into him. Ironically I think an episode even if it was just him in background DOING SOMETHING it would better than what we have now...which is NOTHING!
There is one other thing and trust me there is a lot of truth in this factor. There's the creepy uncanny valley thing going with how closely he is being similar to Twilight's brother Shiny. The fact that a LOT of people assumed brad was human Shiny (Even though I called it right off that bat that he wasn't) There's fact she runs into him like she did her flashback song BBBFF. Heck that his name is similar to Shining Armor. Combine this factors how possessive she acted in the Royal Wedding and....this going into the dark allies of fanfic town.
I also feel that the shallow nature of Twilight liking him because of his looks is true and it's gets worse when you see fans argue that she should date him because he's similar to Brad. That's like Spike dating Sweetie Belle, it would be one thing if they had feelings for them but if you're dating them as a substitute because Spike can't be with Rarity or in Twi's cause Brad, that makes them look like a shallow tool.
I still find it rather amusing that the Crystal Empire just happens to have all the worst ideas (Minus Twilicorn or though it did have the foreshadowing for it). You have the poorly created Royal Couple aka The Hasbro Agents. (who's only saving grace were their villians) The empire itself (which is really really shiny and that's it.) and the you have EqG +Flash which tears this fandom asunder.

Because Crystall Empire was the most stupid idea at all and everything it touches turns into shit. Twilicorn changed nothing because even regular Twilight is Mary Sue in terms of magic. The real problem of season 4 is a weak stories and the lack of Twilight when nobody can really replace her.

I disagree with the mary sue comment for 2 undeniable facts, One she has flaws as Lesson Zero points out of what happens when she goes off the deep end. and closely related Two: Every time she uses one of her Mc Guffin spells...it back fires. The Fail safe spell didn't work against discord. And Twice with the Vampire Fruit Bats & the Parasprites did she try to fix the problem with magic AND IT MADE IT WORSE! MAGIC IS HER CUITEMARK TALENT MY BLANK FLANK! rofl!

1) Magic is not a point in Lesson Zero so what changed with Twilicorn?
2) Non-standart magic may backfire but she can teleport, move very big and heavy things, controls tens objects with telekinesis, shoot magic bolts with energy comparable to 12.7 mm bullet as easily as I write with a pen. Compared to regular unicorn she is clearly superpony from the very beginning. There're many problems in the show she can fix just with these skills but suddenly forgives about her abilities because screenwiter wanted so. Again what changed with Twilicorn? Just even more magic?

In rainbow rocks twilight clearly says that he's her friend and that its a simple crush, and as far a character development goes we only know what she knows so its nice and slow. As opposed to just BAM couple time
