And then the two Raritys went on a double-date with the Pinkie Pies.The end!
This was a fun exercise with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CS6. A few personality quirks to each program, but much improved over my old CS3.
Hardest part was the Carousel Boutique background, which I drew using screenshots from Ponyville Confidential. But it was fun to draw a custom name for Rarity. Planning on doing the same for other characters.
Update: I never did thank the good folks at Equestria Daily for featuring this on their site, or the multitude of people who faved and commented. It's a great encouragement to see my work inspire such activity, and hopefully inspire other people's creativity. Thanks to all!

And I love how even in the panels leading up to the reveal, the manes are mirrored from each other even when they're facing the same on-screen direction. (e.g.: panels 2 and 3; both Raritys face left and yet the manes are mirrored from themselves.)
