Description People have often asked for me to do a list on my least favorite animated shows or a list of animated shows that others like that I don't, but I honestly don't really have enough material for either of those. What I can do instead is look at animated shows that I used to like a lot more than I do now. I want to clarify that even though I don't like these shows very much anymore I can't really say I hate any of them either. They all have their good aspects that even I can still appreciate at least a bit. With that being said I have either found things about these shows that I dislike or have felt like that I have grown past them. Either way something about these shows have caused me to like them less than I used to. Here are my top ten animated shows that I used to like. Honorable mentions include Superjail, Star VS The Forces Of Evil (this mostly just applies to season 4), Spongebob Squarepants (this mostly just applies to the modern era of the show), Ren and Stimpy, and Konosuba. Now on to the list.

10. Robot Chicken: I don't really have a lot to say about this one. When I was younger I thought it was a lot funnier than I think it is now and also didn't realize how offensive and in bad taste a lot of the jokes were. With that being said I do still appreciate the unique aesthetic of the show with how it uses action figures. Also, at least the Star Wars episodes mostly hold up.

9. Happy Tree Friends: I used to have a much higher tolerance for violence when I was younger than I do now. This is the only show on this list that I will refuse to watch ever again because I literally don't think I can stomach it anymore. I honestly don't know how I even stomached watching it back when I was a kid. I think I would honestly like this show a lot more if it was played straight and not full of pointless violence because I actually do quite like a lot of these characters. I don't like seeing characters I enjoy die so that is also probably a factor in why I don't like this show anymore.

8. Sword Art Online: I think the only reason I ever liked this show is because it was one of the first anime I have ever watched in full (at least for the first season). It seemed magical for me at the time but in retrospect there wasn't much to like about this show. Kirito is one of the most bland protagonists I have ever seen, Asuna doesn't have much agency and is reduced to a damsel in distress by the end of the season, Nobuyuki Sugou is just such an irredeemably detestable villain that is so bad that he isn't even fun to hate, the clever concept wasn't properly explored and was mostly used as setup despite it being the most interesting thing about the show, and don't get me started on the incest subplot. The only things I still like about the show are the first theme song, the animation and art style (which are a given for most anime), the concept (which they squandered), and Yui.

7. Rick and Morty: Where do I even start with this one? When this show first came out I thought it was very clever and original (which to be fair it mostly was for its time), but as time went on the cracks in this show started to form. Even though the show can be very funny at times there are a lot of jokes that either go way too far, don't hold up in hindsight, or that simply aren't very funny. At first I thought Rick was a joke character, but as time went on I realized that this didn't seem to be the case. He is an unlikable asshole that you are apparently supposed to sympathize with because of his tragic backstory. He is also being used as a mascot to quite a few shitty people which is another reason why I want to distance myself from this show. I also got tired of waiting for the show to get on with its story (which I heard they finally did in season 6, but it is too late for me to care at this point). During the third and fourth season that was the main reason I was watching the show, but as time went on and I realized they probably weren't going to do anything with the plot I quickly lost interest. the nail in the coffin for me was when the creators of the show were making a new animated show used to promote NFTs. As far as positives go I did genuinely really enjoy the majority of the first two or three seasons and I think that the show can occasionally be really funny, creative, and even poignant when it wanted to be.

6. Miraculous: To preface this section I want to say that I dropped the show halfway through season 3 so if anything I am talking about here was fixed later than I am not aware that it was. This show would have been much better if it was shorter. From the beginning I noticed how tropey and repetitive the show was, but thought that it was just first season weirdness and thought that it would get better over time. As time went on I realized that the aspects that I took issue with weren't going away and were actually getting actively worse. At first I thought that Marinette was kind of cute and charming, but as the show went on she got creepier and less likable. I never liked Chloe, but unlike many other modern cartoons that either redeem or phase out their bully characters this show decided to double down and keep her. There was a time that I thought she was going to get redeemed and that the show would improve because of it, but that ended up being a lie and she went back to being unlikable and annoying right afterwards. The worst part of this show is how afraid it is of leaving the status quo. The worst thing about this show sticking to the status quo is that it has to keep making up excuses for why Marinette and Adrien don't know each others secret identities. I can be quite the fan of a show burn romance if it is done well, but this might just be the worst one that I have ever seen. To do this properly a better show would show you how the relationship is slowly developing over time. This show is doing that at a snails pace to the point where I just wanted to see them get together just so this aspect of the show could finally end. As far as positives go I do quite like Adrien and occasionally find the show to be funny or charming.

5. Family Guy: There was a point during my childhood where if you were to ask me what my favorite show was the answer might have just been Family Guy. I will say that the first three seasons of the show still (mostly) hold up, but even though it was okay for a couple more seasons the cracks were beginning to show quickly. I will first like to mention how flanderized and unlikable most of these characters became. Peter, Lois, Stewie, Brian, and Meg mostly are very simple characters who each have their own styles of humor attached to them of varying qualities. Then there is Chris who is one of the least interesting and most underdeveloped main characters in a show of its length. I can't tell you a single thing about Chris besides the fact that he isn't very bright and used to be afraid of a monkey. Just about every single character in this show became more unlikable as it went on. The jokes also became less funny, more cruel, and longer for some reason. Around season 10 or so it feels like this show was just trying to see how much they could possibly piss people off. It is also very offensive and outdated in so many ways I can't list them all. What I will say is that Glenn Quagmire and Herbert are two of my least favorite characters ever. You have probably heard just about all of this before though. Family Guy has been talked about so much that there isn't anything new I could really say about it. With all of that being said I do think that the show is capable of occasionally making funny jokes to this say and that the musical numbers are usually quite great.

4. Voltron Legendary Defender: This isn't a show that I dislike. It is a show that disappointed me. This show and Star VS The Forces Of Evil are very closely tied in my mind because of how bad their endings were. With that being said I think that as a whole Star VS The Forces Of Evil holds up a lot better. Even though I am not against watching this show ever again I don't really feel a need to go back to it. The last few seasons soured the overall experience so much. The LGBTQ+ representation that the show has feels very forced and a last minute response to how many fans were expecting it. I don't even think that the character Shiro married was introduced prior to the wedding scene. Of course what people actually wanted was a gay relationship between Keith and Lance, but it feels like the show got Lance and Allura together for the sole purpose of pissing off these fans. Speaking of Allura, her death is the main thing that made the ending feel worse. Despite everything else that I said I believe that if she lived the show would have been more fondly remembered and not nearly as divisive as it is today. Now to list some positives because aside from the ending this is probably the highest quality show on this list. The first 3/4ths of the show were mostly fantastic. The show has so many lovable characters, interesting fight scenes, and moments that will make you feel a vast array of different emotions including joy, laughter, sadness, fear, and anger. This is mostly a good show that just so happens to have one of the most unsatisfying endings I have ever experienced.

3. The Loud House: When this show first premiered I was excited for it. It seemed like the beacon of hope (and quality) that Nickelodeon was looking for a very long time. I loved this show for the first couple of years it was airing. The reason why I fell of from this show doesn't really have anything to do with the show itself though. I genuinely believe that the show is still at about the same quality as it ever was. The issue is that I realized how generic and formulaic the plots were. Once I realized this the show got less and less fun to watch. I believe that this show has used just about every single stock sitcom plot ever. I haven't seen a new episode of this show in about a year, but I still gave the movie a shot. The movie in question being one of my least favorite movies that I have seen in years. I don't think that this is a bad show, just a very generic one. The main issue is that I grew out of the target demographic and was expecting the show to get more interesting as it went on despite that not happening. With that being said I do still do quite like aspects of this show. I still think that Luna, Leni, and Lucy are great characters and that the show can be funny and even occasionally heartwarming. It is also true that this show has the best LGBTQ+ representation on this list and I do quite appreciate that aspect of the show.

2. South Park: I think that South Park feels like an older Rick and Morty. A show that a lot of people who like to call themselves intellectuals tend to like. My least favorite thing about this show has to be how it tricked a ton of people into thinking that making fun of everyone equally was an okay thing to do. Punching up and punching down are two completely different things, but South Park and many of its fans seem to not be aware of this difference. It is also often very racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, and anti-semitic. For quite a long time this show even hypnotized me to think like this. That is until I realized how wrong this way of thinking is. Even though this show wants to present itself as neutral it mostly just inspires hate, negativity, and nihilism in those who watch it. That is not even to mention many of the real world negative effects that the show caused such as making a lot of people believe global warming was fake, making ginger kids bigger targets of bullying than they already were, and the fact that they showed images of the prophet Muhammed which is just something you would do if you are asking for trouble. The straw that broke the camels back for me was the episode Board Girls. When this episode first came out I also realized that I was probably transgender and through this new lens it had me realize how bad that this show messed up my social consciousness. I could honestly go on and on about the things that I dislike about this show, but I think that you get the idea at this point. Now to mention some positives I guess. The show can occasionally be quite funny and can actually have good satire on occasion when they are punching up at people who deserve to be called out.

1. The Fairly Odd Parents: I said that Family Guy might have been my favorite show at some point. I know for a fact that Fairly Odd Parents was my favorite show when I was a kid. The show was quite funny and creative at first, but as it went on it just got worse and worse. The jokes got less funny, the episode concepts got less creative, and the characters became more flanderized and increasingly unlikable. It is a surprise to anyone that Butch Hartman and Seth MacFarlane were friends at one point. With all of that being said I think my least favorite thing about The Fairly Odd Parents is how the female characters were written especially in later seasons. I genuinely think that Wanda was a lot more likable when the show started out, but as time went on she became more of a stereotypical nagging housewife type of character. I can say similar things about Vicky and Trixie. If I were to make an educated guess I think that Butch Hartman doesn't like women very much. This wouldn't be surprising because of how homophobic he also is though. A lot of shows can be separated into different eras, specifically shows like The Simpsons and Spongebob Squarepants which are often divided into good and bad eras. The way I divide eras of The Fairly Odd Parents is The early seasons that are mostly good and the following eras that slowly get worse and worse. This of course started with Poof, and then Foop, and Sparky, and Chloe, and the live action movies, and (hopefully) finally Fairly Odder (which has a commercial that I hate so much that I sometimes avoid Paramount+ just so I don't have to sit through it). When this show first started out I genuinely do think it was quite good for quite a while and was often very funny and imaginative, but the general decline in quality along with me wanting to distance myself from Butch Hartman and his work make this the biggest drop off in my care and interest in a tv show ever.
