There is a small river there that cuts off access to this side of the beach at low tide. Its a really old bridge and and the only real thing i can think of is that it was constructed to aid fishermen to get quick access to their nets. I have seen evidence on the beach of net poles that have long rotted. It is a wonderful sight at high tide.
