Description This is a poster I'm designing for my Girlfriend, which is why it's A1 sized, but that means there's a lot of free space. Any suggestions welcome.

I've used a lot of brushes from people, but can't remember who so if you by chance see your work in here, please say so if you want the credit.

Anyway, hope you like it. It's my first deviation so be kind. Done in photoshop...
Thanks

This looks like one of pictures... My desktop in fact! I think it's because you used the same rainbow!

I think he made this more than a year after me...! I like it though, so I won't sue...

From the thumbnail it looks great and my browser is being an ass, not allowing me to see the full image.

But it feels out of balance. Uncomfortably in the middle. I suggest adding something (clouds?) to the bottom right of the floating scape.

And the floating scape needs more details. Unless your concept was for it to be like a floating blob?

I think it is very lovely. I would give an "advanced critique", but I am merely an amateur, albeit voracious, art voyeur. I do think it has great balance and use of space.

Thank you very much. I'm finding it hard to do a second poster based on this one, I can't seem to replicate the subtlety of colour. Oh well.

Thats amazing man, how did you do that? The tree and those clouds are amazing. Actually all of it is amazing..

Thanks very much, most of the brushes (the clouds and the tree) I found on deviant art in Resources>hotoshop brushes... Other than that, it's all with the pen tool in photoshop, and some custom shapes. Thanks again!

Very nice. I think with the background taking up so much space you may want to lower the saturation of that background color (and adjust the brightness slightly). I really like the subtle gradient for that background; it really adds to it. For the shape of the "island," what did you use to make it? Some of the curves at the top of the shape don't look as smooth as they could. It doesn't look like you used the pen tool to make that, so I suggest you use it to get the smoothest look possible. Nice job, still.

Hi, thanks for the advice. If you see the full sized image, the top is actually grass so that's why it may not look too sharp in the preview. I hope the detail comes out when I get it printed. Other than that, I used the pen tool for most other things, and a custom shape for the london scene. Thanks again, I will try out your suggestions.

Oh, now I see it. I think you should pen tool that part as well then. I'm assuming you used photoshop's grass brush for that? I think when you print this that part may just look blurred (rather than grassy), so you'll want to try to make it as sharp as everything else. Or, if you don't want to pen tool all that (it'd take forever), I think using the either the Unsharp Mask filter (sharpen > unsharp mask) or the sharpen tool on the grass layer would help. If neither look right, I'd suggest just losing that layer altogether. It's a subtlety that works digitally, but would could be lost in print.

"would could."

there really needs to be an edit button.

Good point, though it might depend how I get it printed, and on what material, I might not risk it.

if filling up tht empty space, u meant that you wanted to fill out tht sky, i think you shouldnt... its quiet beautiful like that. Kinda gives the " you and me agasint the world " feel.

great work regardless

very nice.
For credits, try renaming the brushes to something with the makers name in it, so when you use them, you just write the names down as you load them.

Good job! I must say, I really like how the black stands out against the blue and is the focal point of attention. I also like how there's two sides to the picture. Top job for your first deviation!
