I'll have to agree with you. His design can be a pain in the ass, but I love it and life's not fun without challenges.
First of all, I love your shading style. It's awesome.
It's probably just me, but his tail looks a little short. Then again, cats don't have 1 meter long tails. I think you managed really well to catch his design, as said above, it's difficult.
All together, a lovely picture that leaves room for improvements.
