What does the term "electrically-initiated" mean?

Electrical initiation replaces a firing pin to ignite the primer for ammunition. So instead of a bit of metal striking the bottom of a bullet casing, two electrodes hit it with a current instead.

Looks quite similar to the Heckler and Koch XM8 assault rifle. Did you get inspiration from that gun for this one?

Closest I'll get are plasma-based weapons, unless they're ship-board lasers. Handheld laser weapons in this universe are used for dazzling opponents or electronic sensors.

Rounds are magnetically bottled for stability, inflict severe burns, some electrical shock and can explode on impact with tissue as moisture is instantly vaporised. Visible too.
There is a weapon (my YJ-65) which uses lasers, but that's just to ionise the air so you can shoot a bolt of lightning over distance.

is it okay if I use some of these pics in my story. the reason being is my story takes place in the year 2036 and I pictured some rifles looking like this.
