Description
My colored version of the steed and animal companions to the child Cervic Riders.I decided to ditch the saddle and bridle as a homage to the wargs, intelligent wolves that allow orcs to ride on them but are not domesticated animals as they were independent from the orcs, as this dude here reminded me.
So I thought I should do the same with the deer since they too are intelligent creatures that the children have formed a bond with so they are ridden without restraints. (Though I must question as to how anyone can ride any big, fast moving animal without falling.)
But while I ditched the riding equipment I still kept the armor for protection.

Yes, I could see that working- maybe some like padding, but not a whole saddle- those weight quite a bit without the rider being essential ballast, on top of the armor.
I imagine it would take a quite a while- first for the rider and mount to get acquainted to the point they can trust each other- let alone the stag allowing someone to ride. Then it would likely take a while to get used to riding in a small, contained environment, like a stable range, before gaining proficiency tot he point of being able to ride at full gallop.
