When interacting with him, Joachim always appear to be calm and level-headed. He tries his best to remain relaxed in whatever situation he may be in, regardless of what he is actually thinking at that moment. But, Joachim will look or walk away from the situation if he feels that he can't keep a straight face at the time.

When he isn't paying any attention, Joachim can become completely clueless. He won't be able to catch on to any small, but noticeable detail until the very last minute. For him to be on the same track as everyone else, it is best to be completely straightforward with him. Other than that, he won't know what is going on.

Even if he keeps to himself, Joachim is easy to talk to. He enjoys meeting new people and finds it fun getting to know them. He sometimes won’t hesitate to help out someone he barely know, which will cause some to call him chivalrous. He will continue show some sort of kindness to anyone, even with those who would be considered as a rival. But it doesn't mean he can only be friendly.

When given, Joachim won't back down from a challenge. He enjoys the feeling of going up against something regardless of how difficult it may be. If he succeeds, he will feel proud about himself and develop a sense of accomplishment. If he fails, Joachim doesn't feel like he has been defeated. Instead, it makes him feel motivated to improve and get better at it.

There are many times where Joachim would become reckless. When he is determined in reaching his goal, he doesn’t pay attention to his health condition. Background :
Being born and raised in Scotland, Joachim grew up near the edge of a small country-side village. His parents thought it would be best for them to surround themselves in an environment away from the city life. His father, Marcel, also thought it would be best to live away from his family influence. It is unknown what his family is involved with since he nor his mother, Kalan, leave no room for discussion concerning it.

While his parents are away for work, an eight-year-old Joachim and a nine-year-old Sven, his older brother, would be watched over by their neighbors who knew about the magical world their family lived in. The neighbors are good friends of their parents back from when they were in school and they had a little girl, named Petra, who is around the same age as Sven. Having only one magical parent, Petra was born without any magical talents.

Even though the two brothers grew up with her, she is most closest to Joachim. She believed that he was also born without any magical abilities, while Sven showed some potential magic at an earlier age. But it was proven later, that he too have magical talents.

Before his magical abilities surfaced, Joachim and Petra would look and watch in awe as Sven perform some simple magical tricks. While Petra was fascinated with the performances, Joachim became a bit jealous at the thought that he can't do none. So, while he is at home and alone in his room, he would try and practice what his brother have done earlier that day. He would keep trying and practicing each night until he got tired with frustration. He even told Petra how he plans on trying to prove that he has some potential in the magical arts, as a result, earning her support.

One day, as Sven was showing off his magical talents again, Joachim had enough and asked Sven to give him a try at performing magic. Over and over again, he kept attempting do the same performance as Sven only to come up with nothing. Sven told him to give up and that he'll never going to accomplish what he has done. But Petra, on the other hand, encouraged him to keep trying regardless of how sad she will become since she will be the only one without any magical abilities. After her short bouts of encouragement, Joachim was able to gain results. Even though the results were very small, he was proud to know that he has some talent in the magic category.

The year he turned 11-years-old, he received his letter to join Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry. As he impatiently waited for the new school year to come, since he received his letter in the middle of the year, he would tell Petra how excited he is to be attending Hogwarts. He would tell her all of his plans on what he wishes to learn and how he wants to be the best there is. He would even tell her that he will try and work twice as hard to learn things that she wishes she could do. Joachim plans on sharing every experience he has gone through with her. As some sort of repayment for her encouragement and support for when he didn't have any magical talents. Little did he know what sort of faith has befallen her.

As each school year passed, he would eagerly rush on home and visit Petra. He would let her know what kinds of things he has learn and what has happened while learning them. During one of his visits after his 3rd year at Hogwarts, he immediately notices the difference in her appearance. Her skin would look paler than usual and a bit grey. Her eyes would seem a bit dull and lifeless. Her once full set of hair would look a bit thinned and flat. Joachim quickly asked if she was feeling a bit okay, only to receive a smile and to be told that she was feeling fine. She stated that she felt tired from making a handmade pendant for him while she waited for him to come home. Joachim received the pendant while still feeling a bit concerned for her before continuing to tell his stories with less enthusiasm than before arriving.

Nearing the end of his 4th year at Hogwarts, he has received a letter from Petra's parents during lunch time. Thinking that it was strange that he was receiving a letter from her parents than from Petra herself, he quietly opened the letter and read what was inside. Petra had died of cancer the night before. As soon as he was done reading, Joachim quietly excused himself from the table and head to his bed in the dorm room. It was at that time that he had cried for the lost of his friend.

He continued on the rest of the school year as if nothing had happened. Joachim attended the funeral that was held a few weeks after arriving home. As he looked at the gravestone after the burial, Joachim went on and told her the things he had learned that year and the things that had happened to him. Just as he was almost done telling his story, stream of tears began to fall down his cheeks. He knelt on the ground and began to pound at it, yelling and exclaiming why she haven't told him the truth the first time around. He was mad that she had told him a lie with a smile on her face. Joachim continued to cry several minutes later before attempting to wipe away any stray tears from his face. Joachim then made a promise to work hard, not only for himself, but for Petra as well along with any enthusiasm she would have if she were to attend school.

Joachim now attends Hogwarts as a 5th year student and plans on carrying on the year as he had always done the years before.
