kanara as a lil foal/yearling, aw baby!! I'm so so sorry for the inactivity guys. It's Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, so I made baby kanara to clear my mind and make myself feel better about my art. Taking a break can work wonders, seriously - although I'm not sure when I'll be making art again. hopefully soon! thanks so much for sticking by me, friends!

What do you do to get the background blur? I love the unique, artsy, effects you get.

I duplicate the background layer twice and apply a guassian blur to the first layer, then erase the foreground / all the parts in focus. Then I apply "Paint Daubs" to the second duplicated layer, erasing so that the guassian blur adds a sort of "transition" from in-focus to blurred (guassian blur is below the paint daub layer). If that makes sense?
