Description "SMAUG" from THE HOBBIT. This is my version of the ominous dragon from the classic book, The Hobbit.

Hand-sculpted from Fimo polymer clay over a strong wire armature. Sculpted with scales, teeth, horns and lean, but powerful muscles, he's posed as if guarding his precioussss treasure. His wings aregently posable, which I think is great fun. As described in the book, his treasure has fused to his breastplate armor from his tail to his head. He clutches a golden ball from his trove that contains bits of crystal shards. He is 10 1/2 inches long X 10 1/2 inches high (including his posable wings).

I absolutely loved making Smaug, one of my favorite literary characters of all time! Grrrrrrr!

Fantastic! Did you use clay for the wings as well? They are my favorite part, the fact that they are semi-transparent in some places makes them so realistic, and the singed edges are a nice touch. I also love the treasure all along his armor. Love it!
