To be honest, I doubt Redguards joining the Stormcloaks would have caused any issues as far as my understanding of the in-game universe is concerned

All the races of men speak a common tongue the redguards spoke yokudan when they where new new to tamriel in the first era 808 besides the redguards where already doing better against the thalmor then the nords ever could with only taneth falling to the dominion and they seceded from Titus Medes empire better than skyrim could have you ever played any Elder scrolls game besides skyrim you racist

Awesome! The light effects, the textures, the facial expressions... Simply gorgeous!
If an Elder Scrolls Exhibition would ever take place somewhere, your arts should be undoubtedly submitted for contest!
Like many players, one of my characters (my firts one actually) was also a non-nord who joined the Stormcloacks. A male argonian not fundamentally opposed to the Cyrodiilian Empire, who actually approved the Concordat signed with the Thalmor so that the remaining population would be spared. However, his patience had grown tired of the excessive Empire's fear for Thalmor retaliation, and came to realize that the longer the Concordat is applied, the weaker and more divided both the Empire and Skyrim were becoming. Since none of them wanted to take the fight with each other, I made my character choose the Stormcloaks, who displayed sufficient bravery to oppose the Thalmor tyranny despite their drop in numbers. It was also a manner to prove Ulfric's forces that non-nords might have an affinity with Honor and Nordic traditions, and abhor smugglering and thievery that they are commonly associated with.
Err... Sorry for the uber-personal TES story (^^'). I can't help myself when it comes to so-called Nordic prejudices
Anyway such an awesome masterpiece you did there!

Nah, i love hearing peoples Skyrim experiences and what they had in mind for their characters as they played. I played an Argonian in morrowind a lot, myslef, but i always go nord in Skyrim for some reason. I think it says alot about how awesome the game is that one can imagine all this other stuff while playing.
And thanks for the kind words, this pic took FOREVER lol

Of all non-Nord races of Men, Redguard would be most acceptable to the Stormcloaks, since Hammerfell is currently independent of the Empire and hates Thalmor with passion.

my thoughts exactly
that's why my Redguard is a Stormcloak
why would a Redguard fight for an Empire that his homeland is thriving without?

Nice, and there is no reason a Redguard couldn't be a Stormcloak, Endons son Cade joined up with the Stormcloaks, this is supported by the ingame lore in Skyrim, no patches or mods required, just go and listen to Endon speaking to his wife and daughter in the Silverblood inn in Markarth.

Wow okay - I just assumed they couldnt because Ulfric is kinda "strict" about other races joining. I'm off to Markarth to see Endon! (pushes a septim across the table to you) Thanks for the info.

Hey, no problem -'J
I've actually never seen Ulfric as being strict about people joining based on Race, as Galmar says, they are concerned about the motives of outsiders joining, even if they are Nord.
It's kind of funny that the Stormcloaks get labelled as racists but never show any indication of it, yet the Imperial Legates and Tullius are openly racist in their opinions of the Nords yet never get the same treatment.

I've never heard Ulfric saying anything about other races couldn't join his cause. Actaully this is what will Ralof say if you are not a Nord and you ask him about joining "Damn right. You don't have to be a Nord to fight for Skyrim's freedom."

Oh okay - I guess I just assumed because i always play as nord (well, mostly), and Ulfric's always saying "Skyrim is for the Nords"

theBEARDEDcanuck In reply to modji-33 [2016-09-03 19:57:58 +0000 UTC]
Skyrim si the Nords land, they want the right to rule it, but this doesn't mean they are opposed to other races... just look at Stormcloak Morthal, an Argonian is promoted to the title of Housecarl to the Jarl... 3rd highest rank anyone can have in a Hold.
.... just on a theoretical note, what if Cade was sent as the Stormcloak ambassador to Hammerfell? we know the Stormcloaks are negotiating an alliance with Highrock, and Hammerfell has the same goals as Skyrim, it kind of makes sense, doesn't it?

I've actually been thinking about writing a story with a similiar premise.
Zen (the Redguard in this pic) was allowed to join the Stormcloaks because Ulfric wants to send him as an envoy to Hammerfell, and thinks a native would be more palatable to the rulers there. I've got some ideas about the reason why, and some double-crossing on the Stormcloak end of things. What i haven't quite 'landed on' yet is the viewpoint character, and a satisfactory ending.

Sounds awesome, i'd give it a read when it's done.
could be looking at the commonalities both Skyrim and Hammerfell have; they both are adamantly opposed to the thalmor and they both were betrayed by the Empire to make a deal with the Thalmor... Kematu the leader of the Alik'r Warriors in Skyrim says that Hammerfell is still actively resisting the Dominion as well as bringing all who aided them in the war to justice, so it could be seen as an enemy of my enemy is my friend type thing or a more honor and justice approach
