This handsome lad is Simba and has been painted with soft pastels on sanded board.I painted it for my friend, Lorraines boyfriend in 2007 as unfortunately Simba had passed onto pastures new and is no doubt chasing unsuspecting animals all around the meadow somewhere up there!
I worked from a very tiny and poor quality mobile phone image taken on the back seat of a car. At the front of Simba was a cute dogs head and this is why Simaba has his front paw under the blanket ,as I did not want to guess what they looked like!

This is truly beautiful, love how got this effect from using soft pastels, and I really love that you did this for your friend, as one who has lost a pet not too long ago I know something like this can give you great comfort. It's very beautiful and very sweet of you to do this for your friend, I would have never noticed the paw under the blanket unless you had mentioned it, I was too busy looking at the details on the kitty, the fur is amazing!

Monday was very nearly the day that Ginge went to heaven BUT we seem to have had a reprieve with some steroid jabs from the vet! He is in no pain BUT we have told the vet that as soon as he looks in any sort of distress then he will have to go to sleep as we do not want him to suffer.Actually, he seems okay in himself and is behaving normally,drinking and eating.
Samantha was devastated by the news in the vets as we had to make a decision on the spot and it has worked...for now.

I have both personally witnessed and experienced the miraculous reversal of conditions steriods can achieve. From my experience, there usually isn't much pain regardless of the prior levels after steriods for quite some time. It can sometimes herald a major turn around when it does work. I will keep my fingers crossed that this is one of those cases. If just temporary, Ginge will still be feeling quite good for some time. It just can't stop all things. Here's

I think I've seen a picture of Simba on the internet. Think, in any case he is a very handsome kitty. I love how the eyes and back paws are.
