What I really like about this picture is that you can't see the water except for the in the way everything looks weightless. You didn't have to draw water, you just drew the effects of it and we fill in the water with our minds.
Trying to imagine this picture without the water is really nifty, too, in a sci-fi kindof way.

love this image...i, too, have the same fascination with Ophelia and water (though Hamlet is far from my favorite Shakespearean work).

This is picture is really wonderful, i love the idea that you have will the lilly pads.
whenever i tried to do a picture of ophelia it was always of her being above the water, like mid-drown & that seems like the popular way to draw/paint her, So its really nice and refreshing to see somthing that looks good and is original.

I once did the same thing with the Spanish alphabet. I passed, even though I can't roll my Rs to save my life.
I actually knew of that monologue even before I'd read the play. It was in a Calvin and Hobbes strip in which Calvin is lamenting the intolerable experience of eating his mother's cooking. Priceless ^_~.

Having seen your work, that makes sense ^___^.
My interest in the dual nature of water can also be applied to fire, though I just don't feel as connected to that substance for some reason.
Thanks for the fav by the way!

Hee. Please don't let me scare you. It really is one of those plays that should be read (preferrably viewed) at least once. I've just had to study it so many times that I can't find real enjoyment in it anymore. If you ever find yourself screaming to the manuscript, "Just kill him already, Hammy!!! >_<" you'll know what I mean.
Although, the gravediggers? They make me laugh. So it can't be all bad XD;.
Thanks for the comment and favorite BTW. 'Tis most kind of you ^____^.

Oh, it probably is. But, I've always preferred his comedies. A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Twelfth Night, and Much Ado About Nothing are my favorites. All that angsty development AND a happy ending. What's not to like? ^_^

I Finally Finished reading Hamlet.. Two years and a half later haha. I don't go on Deviant art much anymore, but i remembered your drawing.. and i'm so happy that i favorite-ed it... I completely agree with you, i love Ophelia's character! and Hamlet is such a procrastinatZor! But i Truely hated Polonuis' (bolonius?) character.
ok ok, Back to your Art, I still think this is an amzing picture and her expression is.. in my opinion... perfect. My only problem.. is i think she needs more flowers! haha
But you're drawing has left and everlasting feeling of how Ophelia felt! I think i'm always going to remember this work!
