And glassless.. hm.

Have you ever read Mrs. Dalloway by V. Woolf, The Hours by M. Cunnigham, or watched the movie The Hours?

I watched The Hours a year or two after its release, but I've never read any of Virginia Woolf's work. I don't remember much about the movie except that it was depressing. The water motif was rather striking though.

Aah. I actually find it rather soothing. Instead of looking at the conflicts and the struggles it presents, one can see the yearning for happiness humans feel, the courage it takes to achieve that, the strength....
I spoke of Mrs. Dalloway because the book itself, I think, deals with being in love with life - all of it, second by second.... When I'm feeling bad, rewatching the movie (although I usually listen to it while ironing or something) reestablishes where I am in relation to what I'm living. I'm not sure why, but it gives me peace.

So I brought it up as recommended reading.
I don't know if others can see it as a celebration of life though...

If I ever see The Hours on TV again, I'll make a point to watch it and see if I don't have a different take on it now years later.

I don't know that I've ever had that feeling from a movie before, but a few video games I've played have come pretty close. RPGs are all about the characters overcoming, or living and celebrating life in spite of, adversity. I also feel that way when I read Joseph Campbell's writings on the Monomyth. Speaking of which, it's about time I re-examined both.

wow, great job with the light on this one. How long have you been at this self portrait thing? And how long do you plan to continue it?
