Description Or...Fast Food: Cannibalism Made Efficient

I got off of work early today and had some unexpected free time to experiment. So, I shuffled on over to the bookstore, sat myself down in an isolated spot, and started a little comic. Not much going on here, but I've always liked the idea of doing something like this in a larger format. Even if that doesn't happen, I can still play around with it now and then, no?

By the way, it's not really that crucial, but I intended it to be "read" from right to left. Since I'm a manga junkie and all ^_~.

i think your idea of the canibalism society is absolutely disgusting, but i find it so interesting to watch someone elses disturbing ideas take shape. i'll be watching your little guys.

This makes me sad...as usual. But the lovely cross hatching and economy of lines more than make up for it. ^^
And I have a question! Do the Civis ever eat each other, or is their canabalism strictly limited to the savages? It doesn't seem as though the fat ones would really care much, one way or another.

Amazing anatomy and structural skill!

Why do the to-be-eaten children (I forget what you call them) look so calm? I'd be pissin' out every pore of my body if I saw what was about to happen to me!

Also, do you illustrate for children's books or other literature?

The proles ^_~.

It's a good question that you asked. I think that I can best explain it by pulling out one of my own experiences.

When I was first sent over to the Middle East, I was really freaked out and on edge. I had no idea what to expect from that environment, how the war would work out once it started, what kind of danger I or my buddies were going to face. That anxiety is definitely something that you experience at first. So, the war started, alarms started going off, and we would scramble to get to shelter, protect ourselves, that kind of thing.

But, that shock wears off. Pretty soon, after the hundredth "lightning, lightning, lightning" alarm in so many days, we got used to it, and we just went about our business. The alarms became these inconveniences that we sometimes had to deal with, but they didn't bring any dread. At first, when the injured were brought into the hospital, I wasn't sure how to deal with it, but then I got on with it. You get used to it.

It's no different in this case. These little people have been seeing this for so long now, that they've come to expect it. It's a matter of acceptance. Death is certain, but they aren't afraid of it.

I imagine that any fear that they may be experiencing at that moment isn't so much a fear of death but a dread of knowing that they are going to be eaten by beings who can't appreciate their sacrifice. This process of the fat civis devouring the savages is only a twisted, sick echo of how the savages treat and feed one another. In basic terms, they recognize it as an abomination.

Hmmm...did that make sense?

Oh! And to answer your other question, no I haven't illustrated for any books yet. Though, I'd definitely be interested. I'm not sure how to get into it though.

That makes so much sense, that I'd be the first in line to buy a book of this story, if you were to write and illustrate it!

I'm serious.

I like how the figures get more abstracted as the panelling zooms out...very smooth comic storytelling X3 I'm in love with the expressions of the top panels as well, especially that one to the far left.

Amazing your ability to very simply capture the personalities and relationships of the master and pet? Leaves alot to interpret.
