poor symmetry...
but i agree with Meeerleee, if you look closely enough you'll see all sorts of ups and downs and "wrong" lines everywhere... symmetry is more of a mathematical construct, perhaps.

It's everywhere and it is, indeed, amazing. So many things we see but don't see at the same time, like the golden ratio or the Fibonnacci sequence, they can perhaps be found in seashells, leaves, trees and most buildings around us.
But sometimes I wonder: is it all there or is it an illusion, something we have created because it makes us feel... secure, I guess?

Yeah, that's a good question really (: But even with this I'm not that sure if there is really anything we can say for Sure that it is the way we see it or it exists at all. This world is such a miystery (:

have you read Kant? in his Critique of Pure Reason (err, I'm not sure this is a correct translation, but it should be like this: A tiszta ész kritikája), that is precisely the subject which he wishes to analyze...
don't get me wrong, i don't want to be taken as a show-off or anything, in fact i've only read the books fifty first pages so far , but i find it really interesting. especially in a part in which Kant argues that "reality" is a world that cannot be accessed by humans; in that everything we pick up through seeing, hearing, smelling, touching et.c. is immediately processed in the mind so that we may actually witness it... so, if what we "see" is what the mid tells us we see, then what do our eyes really stare at?
apparently, we can never know. ain't that magical?

Haha, it's not a show off I respect people who take their time to read something they find interesting. o: It might sound actually pretty obvious you read about what you care about, but I'm not sure... I'm pretty much interested in quite a lot of things I think, I wouldn't mind reading about them, but reading for me was always something I was told to do... in school too, they tell us to read this and that and maybe that's why I never really wished to read something for my own good... but maybe after school, I'll look around in libraries, and see how it should work. (:
btw the book you talk about does sound interesting indeed o: it's something pretty deep, something you can get lost for a few seconds before going to the next page, right? : D
It is indeed quite magical, all these mysteries, though there are times for me when I get kind of scared or annoyed from all these secrets, it can make the World quite insecure sometimes, can't it?

oh, i understand... i've been there so many times, believe me, school has ruined some of my favourite pastimes. in my case, it is drawing and painting that was most affected... ever since i was a child, the teachers would shout at me for "painting outside the lines" or "using the wrong colour" and so forth.
so, growing up, i have developed this love-hate relationship: i paint and draw but feel it as more of an exercise, in the sense that i "must achieve something" and not simply draw what i wish.
as for books: i read what interests me, indeed - mostly psychology and philosophy, not that i've finished most of them, but anyway. when it comes to literature - perhaps because i was forced to read at school, like you - i only like very few authors.
