Knuckles' simplistic nature leads one to believe that he is of the more down to Earth members of Sonic's friends. He isn't always sensible or wise, but he behaves with an honest heart, and 'trust' is an asset one can readily find in him without realizing it.Sticks needed a disciplined attention to detail in order to survive in the outdoors. Though wild and unpredictable, she is still grounded in a set of "laws" of the jungle which dictate her actions and mannerisms.
When around Knuckles, I imagine that Sticks feels more at ease, as she can bestow what she knows on him, or at least practice her ways uninhibited, and without being judged as "crazy" by him. Knuckles knows he isn't the sharpest light bulb in the crayon box, so he lets her speak her mind. And since he is honest, and keeps his intricately-wound, fictitious superhero life fenced within his daydreams, he will not claim to know what's best, and will not dismiss Sticks' teachings as "nonsense".

I don't find his arm "floaty"... at least it was just right there.

Knuckles and Sticks view each other as Brother and Sister, which is why Knuckles doesn't call her crazy and Sticks doesn't call him stupid. It is hinted in the Episode when Tails makes E.T. And that is why Sticks went after Knuckles when she heard what Eggman's version of E.T. said about Knuckles thoughts on her. I at first thought of them as a couple until I watched that Episode. Though I'm glad it makes a lot more sense than what people had in mind.Β
