Sorry for not replying. I'm having tremendous headaches since someone thought it to be smart that I examined his car up close and personal... without my permission >.< ( crash plus boom equals horrible headaches and terrible wrist pains)

Okay, here goes, long family history shortened:

Unfortunately, no, I’m not a descendant from the Romanovs No, really really. Though my father’s family line can be traced back to Russia, his family emerged from another part of Russia though and holds no line to the Tsars but I am a very far descendant from the Baron of Ter Spikke mother’s father’s line, who was one of the bastard sons from William of Orange recognized as son later though, yet no one from my family can make a claim for the throne unless the entire Royal family and all others next in line for the throne all of a sudden die (I hope not) some field of marshlands in Drenthe, the Netherlands.
The second line is from my mother's grandmother, who had an estate in Germany, at the Harz. They were also descendant from the Barons, but the last descendant is gay (not in merry, but in male loves male) so no children can come forth to claim the title. Pity, but we just can't have it all, now can we? Besides, who am I to judge?

The correct title (though no one in the family has used it for years) would be Baroness Van der Spek. But my first and/or surname will suffice since I’m a commoner just as you are. Thanks to some gambling debts back in the late 1600’s and the fact my family sought to work the land instead of the noble art of war, we’ve lost the land, but not the title. but what is a title without land? Nothing. just call me by my first name, or my surname preceded by Miss, if my first name is too hard to remember or pronounce Mommy will suffice as well but that’s friends only. Not a friend? First name or surname preceded by Miss

So… I fancy dressing a princess, though I won’t want to be one. Ever.

Okay, statistics extra:

More white plushie fur!
5 metres of black velvetine
5 metres of cotton
One coat knot
Silver necklace with white leaves
Silver rose earrings
Golden broche
Fan (hidden in muffet)
More than 2 years of work, most done by hand
One lovely mommah who made the picture ^_^ (Thank you so much ^____^)
Taken at the small park in front of my place, in Den Helder.

Oh… It’s snowing again! There’s over 15 to 20 cm of snow, and more is falling as we speak. Or write. I'm freezing my bum off...

Miss Silver it is! ^_^ Awesome that you know so much of your history. The most interesting think I can say is that I'm part Hamburger (as in: the city Hamburg in Germany). It's always nice to say to people, though. You get weird faces.

But really, the dress is stunning! It looks like A LOT of work. Most by hand, you say That looks killing! I love the white fur, it looks really warm too (only your neck is exposed, so that might be cold!)
The snow was really pretty! It fits the dress well. Did you wear a hoop skirt under this? Or just a big pettycoat? It's so fluffy!!

That was an interesting read.

I like that the dress' functionality appears to be on par with aesthetics because not only does that look lovely and regal, it looks pretty warm too. *laughs*

Nice job!

trust me, it is warmer than a pair of trousers in this weather. Layers of air keeping me warm instead of a bit of fabrics

thank you!

dear, you look absolutely fabulous! and that dress, wow. just wow it's stunning
really, i can't say anything more about it. it renders me speechless x'D

family histories are always so interesting to hear!
i've never tried to trace my name back, so no interesting tale to tell here

thank you so much I felt... the same when it was done. Unfortunately the train didn't pass the "stress-test" entirely so there is some minor work to be done. At least everything's finished by now, that's a lot better than being halfway, no money and a lot of ideas

Pretty dress
The snow finishes the picture

Quite a history your family has.

My family was more workers class but i can go trace it back to 1370
One of my ancestors was even a murderer O.O...

^^ thank you so much. unfortunately, we all have a few black sheep in the family. Got several in my mom's side and some in my dad's side. Don't let it get the better of you

my family history from my mom goes back to 933, where two brothers Van der Spek battled over land, and were forced into cooperation to get it over with and repay the damage done to the community

my dad's goes back to 1870, for as far as I know for know, but there are traces to the late 1600's
