Description One of the few MGC contests that I actually won -- the theme was science fiction. It took a while to get an idea I could work with but then it occured to me: in the Gargoyles episode, "The Green", a clan of 4 gargoyles is discovered in Guatamala. What if their clan wasn't destroyed by humans, like they said? Maybe they were hunted by something else, something that likes to come to Earth when things are very, very hot....

You can compare the finished pic to the early pencils here: [link]

Prismacolor markers

Gargoyles (c) Disney & Buena Vista Television
Predator (c) Paramount (or whatever movie studio)

This pic is very good and the shading is great, i like the most how you did color the gargoyle and you say only with prisma markers? I'm wonder how you did the shade!

Anyway, Beautiful work mommyspike! ^_^

re: coloring with markers>>
Well, I usually start by shading with greytones (warm, cool, and French greys). Then I do fleshtones (which can be any color, really), clothings, and backgrounds. Sometimes I do detailing with white ink or Prisma pencils, but I don't believe I did that here. I also find a colorless blender to be invaluable in smoothing and blending colors. *L* In a lot of ways, I treat markers like watercolors in a tube.

re: aliens>> You mean you've never hear of the movie "Predator?" Get thee to a Blockbuster and rent it today!

(Movies, incidentally, are a great way to pass the time in the delivery room. I got to see the Star Wars triology back-to-back while I was in labor with Ryan.)
