comic!Forge lost his right arm and left leg in 'Nam and directly after, in a fit of magical rage, raised the spirits of his dead team and pwned everyone, and then built himself new limbs because he's awesome.
WatXM!Forge also has a mechanical right arm and left leg so I'm assuming the same thing happened, only probably with Iraq or somethin'.

Oh god, I know right? ;_; With comic!Forge it's kinda not as bad because he's a total dick, but WatXM!Forge is such a sweetheart. In my yet-to-have-an-ending-because-Moe-is-lazy fanfic he only did it because his dad was in the military too. 
But unless you get into them too late, new fandoms are AWESOME. Especially in the fans are nice.
