Cuz I needed moar wimmenz (again) and I luv me some OP mommas!!!
First and probably last time I'll draw Olvia XD It was a total joy though! She's just as much as a hoss as her babeh...plus I love her clothing. XD This made me morn they're relationship all over again...
They might be my favorite mama-daughter bond (of all, like, two that exist)ROUGE. Still endlessly fascinating to me.
(Shakkylovesyouwoman!) MAMASOPP (aka Banchina). Not is she the only one with a figure that even remotely suggests that she gave birth, but I think she's a fricking boss. She's always had a special place in my heart (for the same reasons that Andromache from the Illiad does). I like that she was a strong woman in her own quiet way and that she's just a normal human being. I love that she was able to let Yasopp go without it changing how she felt about him and with the understanding that he wouldn't come back. Though this may not seem terribly cool or powerful, I think she does just the right thing for a person in her situation with her abilities (just like Andromache) She kicks ass

Always loved her butchness and the detail that she was a marine (it makes Nami's backstory more complex and unique in my opinion). Love how she passed on her man-manipulation skillz to Nami and protected her babehs fiercely!!! >:0 If I could change one thing, I would have Dadan right smack dab in the middle.
Maybe another time....Ladehs belong to Oda.

True Dadan may not have birthed them but she did raise two of the most stubborn and wild boys of OP= Ace and Luffy.
I've always liked Banchina she seems to be such a strong woman in personality. Most sources I found state they got it form the databooks when they say she actually instisted that Yasopp go ahead and leave to live his dream to be a pirate. It always made me wonder ... Usopp seemed to have some knowledge about piracy that wasn't common knowledge and his mom died (from unknown causes) shortly after his dad left. So how did he get the info?? I've always wondered if Banchina sent Yasopp off first so he would learn about piracy, send some info back and Usopp would learn it. She did raise her son to be proud that he is the son of a pirate, even when he was young, he was wearing clothing with a jolly roger on it.
I think Banchina meant for her son to be pirate all along.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only person who feels this way about Banchina! That's one of the things I love(d) about the OP fandom though; there are so many fans that all characters, no matter how minor, have fans. 
I also agree with you about Dadan. She deserves recognition as a mother figure for sure!

I've been trying to "tidy up" my thoughts on Usopp knowing about piracy more than the average rookie, but haven't gotten it in essay form quite yet, when I've gotten my thoughts more in order, I'll be posting it in my journal.
A quick overview is :
-Usopp knew about the Davy Back Games. Only other that knew about the games were Sanji(raised by former pirate Zeff) and Robin (she's been on the run for 20 years, since she was 8, and familiar with piracy). While Nami has been technically a pirate for 8 years, since she was 10, there were no pirates in East Blue to challenge Arlong to the Davy Back Games so she never had the chance to learn.
Usopp reacted more than the others to Ace's tattoo, he realized what that tattoo meant. We see their reactions to news of Shanks, they were beyond shocked, but they didn't react that way to hearing. They knew the Whitebeard Pirates were a big crew but it seems Usopp knew more. Come to think of it,when Lufffy first and told Usopp that Yasopp was on Shanks' crew, Usopp reacted with shock similar to the way his crewmates reacted months later to Garps revelations. Seems that Usopp knew back then that Shanks was a Yonkou, even though he didn't know his dad was on the crew.
If YAsopp was in contact with Usopp for some time, he could have not told him what crew he was with as a form of protecting Usopp from his enemies.

Cool! All good observations...One Piece is such a massively huge and complex series. I think it really benefits the fandom when people like you latch on to one tiny thread in the story and analyze it like this.

Hahaha! I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of people who responded strongly about Banchina! It's so delightful! XD I guess she's just one of those characters that everyone likes in the brief time that she's a relevant character but then kind of drifts to the back of the collective fandom mind when her arc is over. XD Thus little to no fanart.
Great point on her being Yasopp's lady!!! XD That certainly guarantees some badassery! ;3 And she definitely proved her mettle by letting him go and raising Usopp to be proud of his pirate heritage!

I'm fairly certain that the Square Sisters of W7 are related to the 'Sopp family, 'cause they've got smaller pointier versions of "the nose", and they have tightly curled black hair.

XD It's much more difficult for me to do cell shading than it is to just use the burn and dodge tools on photoshop, but, alas, there is no burn tool on pixelmator. XD I think it's good training though (lol, I totally sound like an anime character XD 'it will make me stronger!' ) Like learning to drive on a stick shift and then with an automatic...or a lever harp and then a pedal harp...

Bellemere's my fave up there, you got here personality down real well just by her pose and facial expression. You're right about her 'butchess' I think that's what I locved about her, not all moms have to be frothy and endearing (though she sure was) and stereotypically domestic. Even her hair is badass.

Bellemere was the easiest to draw BY FAR (and I guess by easiest I mean that it took less time than the rest XD) and I think it's because she has SO much personality whereas the rest of them either have much more brief appearances or are just simply more subtle. XD Glad you like the pose and expression and everything! She knew exactly what she wanted to look like and pretty much drew herself. XD

And you're right, Banchina, despite not doing a lot in the manga, did kick ass for all those reasons you stated. She's got to have been such an understanding person~

LOL. I specifically chose to do my Banchina rant against my better judgment with you in mind, knowing that you would understand. XD 
And lol (again). When I was trying to think of something for her to say I had this epiphany about how all of their babies inherited their mom's most endearing physical traits. Like Ace and Rouge's FRECKLES (so much love) and the Mamasopp and Babysopp noses...and then Robin is, like, a dark haired carbon copy of Olvia...XD Incidentally, that's why I didn't put in Vivi's mom...because they're, like, the same character. Olvia at least is kind of different from Robin...can't put my finger on it, but...it's there...I think it lies in their different clothing styles. Like, the type of person who wears Robin clothes is somehow fundamentally different than the type of person who wears Olvia clothes...But Vivi's mom=Vivi.

Hey, you're right there as well! Rouge and Ace's freckles were the most adorable feature ever. I kinda wish Ace Ace coulda survived and had a freckle-faced grandkid so we coulda potentially had three generations of cute freckles... FFFF. Robin and Olvia's eyes, and their noses, now that I think about it, were pretty cool too... Their styles are similar but markedly different at the same time- Robin's like leather, and Olvia's like fuzzy stuff. Interesting how much of an effect simple clothes style has, eh?
Mamasopp and Babysopp... Might be a throwaway term, but that's such a cute mental image!
