I certainly believe so. XD How could she NOT be? He had to get the crazy-genes from somewhere...Dragon is too demure to get credit for Luffy's awesome insanity.
Thanks for looking!

True Dadan may not have birthed them but she did raise two of the most stubborn and wild boys of OP= Ace and Luffy.
I've always liked Banchina she seems to be such a strong woman in personality. Most sources I found state they got it form the databooks when they say she actually instisted that Yasopp go ahead and leave to live his dream to be a pirate. It always made me wonder ... Usopp seemed to have some knowledge about piracy that wasn't common knowledge and his mom died (from unknown causes) shortly after his dad left. So how did he get the info?? I've always wondered if Banchina sent Yasopp off first so he would learn about piracy, send some info back and Usopp would learn it. She did raise her son to be proud that he is the son of a pirate, even when he was young, he was wearing clothing with a jolly roger on it.
I think Banchina meant for her son to be pirate all along.

tis okay on the long wait ... all I had to do was re-read my original post to know what the reply was to
I've been trying to "tidy up" my thoughts on Usopp knowing about piracy more than the average rookie, but haven't gotten it in essay form quite yet, when I've gotten my thoughts more in order, I'll be posting it in my journal.
A quick overview is :
-Usopp knew about the Davy Back Games. Only other that knew about the games were Sanji(raised by former pirate Zeff) and Robin (she's been on the run for 20 years, since she was 8, and familiar with piracy). While Nami has been technically a pirate for 8 years, since she was 10, there were no pirates in East Blue to challenge Arlong to the Davy Back Games so she never had the chance to learn.
Usopp reacted more than the others to Ace's tattoo, he realized what that tattoo meant. We see their reactions to news of Shanks, they were beyond shocked, but they didn't react that way to hearing. They knew the Whitebeard Pirates were a big crew but it seems Usopp knew more. Come to think of it,when Lufffy first and told Usopp that Yasopp was on Shanks' crew, Usopp reacted with shock similar to the way his crewmates reacted months later to Garps revelations. Seems that Usopp knew back then that Shanks was a Yonkou, even though he didn't know his dad was on the crew.
If YAsopp was in contact with Usopp for some time, he could have not told him what crew he was with as a form of protecting Usopp from his enemies.

O: How many Momos are there?? There's only one Chaz over here...
YES! Exactly! That's just what I was thinking, I just can never put these things into words right. Makes me wonder how I'm ever gonna be a writer like that...
I KNOW RIGHT. Like... Strength, in the physical sense, is all well and good, but willpower is way underrated. I just admire people with awesome willpower 'coz I have all the will of a hungry hog. If I got punted into the world of OP, I would be... like... the opposite of a D. A B? Whatev...
Yeah.. I just wish we'd got to see moar of her in the manga... (I don't watch the anime, because the only place I can watch it is the library, and don't tell anyone this, but when I watch anime I always end up shouting and crying along with the characters, which is... less than great for the ol' reputation, you know?)
Ooh yeah. I love slightly butchy ladies, they're hot
Hey, don't worry about the favs and stuff. There's probably a lot more coming your way, and if you thanked for every one I might just drown in love, which would be bad. I'm too young to die.

LOL! X'D Did your sis not tell you? There are TWO momos. We're twinkies. We shared the womb so we figured we could share a dA account too. XD
A B!!!! XD Lol! If you did the alphabet backwards, I guess the opposite would be W because it's forth from the end...not that it matters. XD We'd so be right there with you no matter what the initial is!
D'aw. :'3 You're such a sweetie. We won't continue to spam your profile page with thank yous in that case...(but we might stealthily insert thank yous into comments )

The mommies! This is a group shot that never even crossed my mind. I LOVE IT.
The background color is wonderful - just the perfect shade of pink to be sophisticated and girly at the same time.
And dammit, you're right. They ARE all dead. I never even noticed that.
I am so happy that you drew Banchina! She NEVER gets drawn. And I totes agree with you on her being strong as well.
I'm fairly certain that the Square Sisters of W7 are related to the 'Sopp family, 'cause they've got smaller pointier versions of "the nose", and they have tightly curled black hair.
Unrelated note: I've officially decided exactly what I'm doing for the art trade. It should be fun. ;D

Lol! Glad you think the finished product is improving. XD It's much more difficult for me to do cell shading than it is to just use the burn and dodge tools on photoshop, but, alas, there is no burn tool on pixelmator. XD I think it's good training though (lol, I totally sound like an anime character XD 'it will make me stronger!' ) Like learning to drive on a stick shift and then with an automatic...or a lever harp and then a pedal harp...

Such a working class group. Reminds me of Rosie the Riveter for some unexplainable reason. Very impressive gathering...well thought out and of course well drawn and colored. ROCK THIS BITCH might be another name for this picture as I think about it...lolz

No, no! >:0 Eerily, I was reminded of Rosie the Riveter too...there must be some logic behind the association...
And they really are a working class group. And I actually listened to 'Rock This Bitch' while I colored it so there you go.
Jeez. We must be related or something XD
Thanks for all the faaaaaaaves~!

Aww, the chibis up the top and their little convo are just so adorable~ Banchina's line in particular makes the fangirl in me squee quite loudly~
And you're right, Banchina, despite not doing a lot in the manga, did kick ass for all those reasons you stated. She's got to have been such an understanding person~

You can never spend too much time on dA! I'm glad I understood said rant then, so I didn't disappoint ya~
Hey, you're right there as well! Rouge and Ace's freckles were the most adorable feature ever. I kinda wish Ace Ace coulda survived and had a freckle-faced grandkid so we coulda potentially had three generations of cute freckles... FFFF. Robin and Olvia's eyes, and their noses, now that I think about it, were pretty cool too... Their styles are similar but markedly different at the same time- Robin's like leather, and Olvia's like fuzzy stuff. Interesting how much of an effect simple clothes style has, eh?
Mamasopp and Babysopp... Might be a throwaway term, but that's such a cute mental image!

I think that, without a doubt, we WILL definitely learn about Luffy's mom eventually. XD But until then, the maternity web of intrigue (composed primarily of men) created by yaoi fangirls can amuse us. XD
