Description Alioramus was a theropod dinosaur belonging to the tyrannosaurid family that lived in what's now known as Mongolia during the Late Cretaceous, in a timespan ranging from 72 to 66 million years ago.
This carnivorous dinosaur was first discovered in 1976 by a Soviet paleontologist dubbed Sergei Kurzanov and according to the latter, Alioramus measured up to 6 meters in lenght and weighed up to half a ton.
Despite its respectable size, Alioramus was far from being the King of the ecosystem it thrived in, having lived in the shadow of Tarbosaurus, a much larger relative, but possibly hunted prey items the latter could not really afford to catch, such as ornithomimids and oviraptorids.
The species most likely went extinct when the infamous meteor struck our planet 66 million years ago, wiping it out along with the other non-avian dinosaurs that lived at the time.
