Description So, this took forever to finish
I wanted to create an animated illustration, and I tested it out with my fave, Rosalina. Her body was split into a bunch of layers to make the animation much easier and more fluid. Here's my process:
1. Sketched out each layer of Rosalina in pencil to be scanned.
2. Refined the lines and colored her in.
3. Added detail and shading her in.
4. Export as PSD to bring into After Effects.
5. Animate using the rotate tool and puppet pin tool.
6. Export as Image Sequence to bring into Photoshop.
7. Save for Web as GIF file.

The animation is at 24 frames per second. I did the illustration itself in Autodesk Sketchbook and Medibang Paint. Tedious, but worth it!

(Sometimes, this GIF would take forever to loop or not even animate, so I'd recommend refreshing. The file is big for a GIF, and it may take a while to load.)

Probably. The animation lasts 5 seconds before it loops, and the file was pretty big when I submitted it. At least, it's still looping on your end

Worth it indeed, I can see her doing this. Love her expression she's making as well as her pose. And wow, I have no idea how that animate stuff works but is still very intriguing to me, hope it was fun while you were making her. Wonderful job for the wonderful piece StarWolf

It sure was. I separated Rosalina into a little over 20 layers, like her arm having 3 layers (upper arm, forearm, hand) and her bangs being a separate layer from her head. It helps to prevent issues, like the head being deformed while animating just her bangs.
So many layers, I had to name each one to keep track
