It was supposed to be just a speedpaint to train colors and light, but when I saw how good it looked from distance, I had to polish it to save you from disappointment
(I'm using a different set of brushes now and my sign disappeared somehow, so there's a new, simple one)

yeah, I used texturemate for this, except I painted the branches first, then put the texture over them using clipping mask and used some weird Blending Mode (Overlay probably).

the branch the dragon is sitting on looks kinda odd [which is why I asked, it looks as though you used a texture] maybe its that the dark bit of it is really dark? and on the left side of it it looks like it is glossy.....the rest of the branches are all great though......and do not get me started on how good the dragon is xP

hahaha well it looks like a photo, the blurred background works really well, and the branch is not the focus point, i never noticed it until recently, and this has always been my favourite artwork of yours ~:]
[I showed a friend this and he reckons it is not possible to draw that good unless you are using drugs

If I were you, I'd try to talk about the role of talent in developing a skill. That's an interesting topic! You'd need to research it a bit, look for any studies about it and so on
