Description

So given tumblr and then through tumblr finding an awesome Monkees discord server, I have truly gotten back into The Monkees again. As such, I have been listening to them and drawing them again much more frequently than I had been before. Today, on my dash I came across their performance of "Nine Times Blue" on the Johnny Cash show, and was once again moved by the emotions of the song and enchanted by Micky's beauty. I decided to draw my favorite frame from this performance, and I studied it, trying to get as many details right as I could. This also included the shadows, and so for the first time in years I tried to copy the shadows as exactly as I could. However, I had never done this with colored pencils before, so it might look a little off. Nevertheless, I am so proud of this drawing and I might be inspired to do more detailed studies like this one.
