I started to read "Liar Game", a seinen manga by Shinobu Kaitani yesterday. It's a bout a reeeaally nice and honest girl being set up in a scam by a company which is called "Liar Game Office", and they are obviously playing a game - involving millions of Yen.
It's something between Kaiji and ... Kaiji, I think. Some are saying it resembles Death Note (okey, that dude sure looks like L's red-haired equivalent), I guess it's because of the clever strategies they use to outwit each other? But I think this manga is far more realistic and is not trying to be too absurdly intelligent. The characters are not very dynamic, but interesting, the art is ok, and I'm ok with that, too, 'cause it's able to convey the right atmosphere. It's the story-telling that made me devour the first two volumes until 1am. You should give it a shot, it's really worthwhile and entertaining. And of course underappreciated.
