Great stuff as usual, mate. I agree with the previous comments, this graffiti-style is a great new look.
I have to stop looking for symbolism in everything, though: part of my brain's hinting that the main thrust behind this one relates to Communist China's ill-conceived objective to eliminate all the sparrows, so that precious grains of rice could be saved for the diligent workers. Red star, frantic dribbling birds... see? I'm not crazy, honest!

You uncovered my dastardly master plan! All this time I have been posing as a mild mannered scribbler with no political agenda, while actually I have been subverting the youth of the world to a seething mass rabid reds! Hah! I wish...

The mad monkey is back on form!! Enjoying the graffiti style tangent, the tagline and the highlights are worthy of a pant wetting!

they look like seals! seals with wings! ( I think it's the drips - they look a bit like whiskers!)

I like this but I don't know how well all the gleams in the star would translate to skin. The traps between the star and heart aren't symetrical and even if they were it would only be one more easy spot to a show a tattooist's error. The drips are a nice touch. if I were to do this I'd make them more wet looking (I'd also try to talk te client from getting the star).

"My gripe with tattooing it would be the thickness of the outline, getting it even throughout the tattoo is nigh on impossible."
I have to disagree. I could see a 14 round liner being just the tool for the job on the fattest outside line. The inside lines I'd use either a loose 5 or an 8 round. In one they'd look alright and if there were any (ahem) hiccups they could be fixed with a a smaller needle. Your gleams are great when they're next to a significant value change. the top point in the star doesn't work so well because the value on the right side is too subtle imo.
All that aside, I think your designs rock and your hand drawn approach to making them gives me a whole new respect for what you're doing. (If it'd make you feel better I invite you to slam/pick apart anything in my gallery you want).
