I can imagine that Octavia sat on that bench first, so we say she claimed that chair. But Vinyl showed her dominance and sat there in such a way that it's like it's HER bench. We can see Octavia's discomforth, intimidated (even if she would deny it) and lean away from the 'dominant ape'. She might even give up the bench and leave.
All I'm saying is that this can work in real life. Say, some stranger is sitting on a bench on a park and you just sat there like how Vinyl here is illustrating, that person might give the bench to you and so you can have it for yourself! Of course this doesn't work if that stranger is also a dominant type.
