I have 2 very important questions for you:
1. What software did you make this out of?
2. How long did it take you to make this?

1.Autodesk Maya
2.Roughly 8 hours

Very nice. I've recently started modeling a little bit in baby steps. I'm now using Blender 3D cuz the student version of Maya expired on me.

My student license is bound to expire soon *sigh* which means I'm going to have to pay up sooner or later *SIGH*

I'd rather go with Blender 3D (which is free!). Takes time to learn, but hotkeys are also customizable. Maya's like thousands of dollars and the student version's like... hundreds?

student is free if you have a student I.D. Also I've spent a lot of time learning Maya so to switch now would feel like starting all over again . Besides, i love Maya's interface better than blender's. Not to say I don't like blender or anything. It's amazing, especially since it's free!

True, true. Personally, in a long-term aspect I would go for Blender. For a free software, it has a lot of features and has improved.

I just like free software that works splendidly. Sure, it'll take a while to learn, but at least I won't have to crack my piggy bank.

Agreed. I'd probably be using it too if I were still a student. It is an incredible piece of software to be sure And I know that you can adjust the hot keys to be like Maya's too, but since I have access to it (maya) I might as well use it as it is commonly used in games/film. But hey, more power to you if you like blender

Indeed, Maya is one of the industry standards. I kinda wished that wasn't necessarily the case as it is a great software, but not too accessible for the average person.

It's gone down in price quite a bit from even 5 years ago ($5000! to $3500) so that's kinda nice but I know what you mean. For hobbyists like me (at least for the time being) it's a pretty steep price but I think that ensures that who ever is buying it is serious about 3d. Not that blender users aren't serious about it either ^_^; (hehe) Although I'm pretty sure that one day, blender will surpass Maya in every way. Open source software like that always does climb to the top eventually, so I may have to jump onto the blender wagon one day...maybe!

Ooooh... 3-4 months worth of my rent and bills~!
Yeah, I'm only a hobbyist on 3D modeling, but who knows. Maybe I might get real hardcore with it someday. I like the result/final product of the 3D models, just not the long and tedious process of it.

Which is why they tell you to specialize in a particular aspect of 3d like modeling or animation, when you go to school for it. I'm currently trying to learn rigging and it makes my head spin. It is so complicated and foreign to me that I have a really rough time understanding it. 3d is a lot of work but as you said, the final product makes it all worth it

Interesting, I always thought that it was because of how larger animation companies need people who are specialized in the particular area. From what I was told, essentially the larger the company is, the more specialized that the animators become.

It's probably both. I don't work in any studio or anything so I wouldn't really know, but from my experience I can see why people would specialize in a particular area; because everything that goes into making a film or game like rigging, animation etc. are art forms in and of themselves.
