Of course it's almost two months since this was put up, would "Hackshaw" make a good surname (last name)?

Really cool name! Someone came up with the name "Remmy Hightawps" which I like a lot, but this one might work well, too. Someone else suggested he looked a lot like a red wolf, which in latin means "Rufus", so "Rufus Hackshaw" would make for a cool name actually! Is there a background to the surname? I would use both names but I noticed that they have the same innitials xD

Not really sure myself, but the term "hack and slash" came to mind and thought of werewolves for some reason. Β Not sure if this character really 'hacks' at all, so the name could just be an intentional misnomer itself.

Those are some valid points! I was planning to make him addicted to a drug that can cause the user going savage, so that werewolf association might be plausable. The name would make sense that way, too.Β

oh wow I love this and the perspective dosn't look that bad at all, it looks really good! I love the blur you've added to add depth X3 I love the poses you give the characters it always add so much more action and life to the image!
And I like the fact you given your guy a ZT make over XD It works so well! The only name I can offer is Ralph? Like the werewolf creature from the old Rampage game

Thanks! But I glossed over a lot of little details when I made this. Like how in such houses, rodents and other smaller animals would have their own apartments below the entrance stairs. That does however actually just leave me more excited for doing more of this kind of work C:

Y'know Mono, you may say that your perspective and size relations are "terrible" (and it's really not, just needs work) but honestly you convey the story of the scene quite nicely. You are able to communicate to the audience what's going on with the characters' gesture, emotions, and posture, leaving the audience to wonder what's to happen next because the scene is interesting. For a lot of artists, that is a truly difficult thing to express in storyboarding and conceptual artβconveying an interesting sceneβbut you nail it right here.
Perspective, foreshortening, and all of the principles and elements of art is indeed very important and it comes with a lot and A LOT of life drawing, at least in my experience. But the story is just as important, because that's what hooks people in.
What would have been a real treat would be to have a whole vanishing point and horizon line in the background, yet the chapel that you put in works well with this scene.
And Matt's influence is quite clear here, keep practicing and you may be drawing those crazy and incredibly detailed environments that he comes up with.
Keep up the work man!

Wow, that's a cool way to view it. Thanks for the encouraging words! I have become more and more invested in visual storytelling recently, trying to decide between comic book illustration and animation as a possible option for my future.
Yeah, a vanishing point would've made the whole thing much more believable, I guess. I also like this sort of twisted, distorted look, only have no idea how to achieve that with vanishing points.

Great drawing. Did you do the depth of field focus in the drawing itself, or digitally after scanning?

He kinda looks like a "Micheal," or an "Austin," maybe even "Remmy." As for last names... He kinda looks like a badger or raccoon, or even a red panda, so "Burow" or "Hightawps."
But, character naming aside... I love this! Very well done! (Along with all your work, of course. Haha)

Considering how long his arms are, and comparable size to Nick, you could say he's a red wolf, which I honestly don't see much of on DA. Β As for a name....Rufus, which I might add, happens to be the Red Wolf's latin name... Canis Rufus.
