Basically, it multiplies your score and adds the result to what your score was.
So let's say you got $2300 when you land on this and you choose a letter that occurs in the puzzle four times. $2300 times 4 is $9200. That $9200 is added to the $2300 you already had. So after all that is said and done, your score is $11,500.
In other words, the face value of this wedge is whatever your score is.
