María de los Ángeles Hernández Gómez fue una torera española que destacó por ser la primera mujer en obtener la licencia de torera en España, para lo que tuvo que lograr la anulación del artículo 49 del Reglamento taurino que prohibía a las mujeres torear a pie.

Su afición por ser torera surgió a una edad muy temprana, acudiendo con su padre y sus cinco hermanos a numerosas plazas, y aprendiendo la técnica del torero con novilleros.
Su trayectoria profesional dentro del mundo del toro empezó montada a caballo en numerosas plazas españolas y algunas de Francia, convirtiéndola en una reputada rejoneadora.
En 1969 viajo a México, donde hizo su debut como torera en la ciudad de Monterrey, y realizo una gira por America hasta 1970 cuando volvió a España después de recibir una fuerte cornada en el estómago.
Al regresar, la vigencia de la prohibición que impedía torear a las mujeres hizo que Ángela decidiera emprender su particular lucha para conseguir la igualdad de derechos en los ruedos.
Hizo su debut en España como torera a pie el 15 de septiembre de 1974, a lo que le siguieron una racha de triunfos.
Siguió con su actividad en distintas plazas de España, no obstante, un conjunto de lesiones que sufrió la obligaron a retirarse; reapareciendo en América en 1986 y en España en 1990.

Desde el inicio de la tauromaquia, diferentes mujeres de diferentes tiempos y países se han enfrentado a hombres y bestias para ganar un lugar de honor dentro de la fiesta brava con muestras de talento y valor.

María de los Ángeles Hernández Gómez was a Spanish bullfighter who stood out for being the first woman to obtain a bullfighter's license in Spain, for which she had to achieve the annulment of article 49 of the bullfighting Regulations that prohibited women from fighting on foot.

Her passion for being a bullfighter arose at a very early age, going with her father and her five brothers to numerous bullrings, and learning the bullfighter's technique with bullfighters.
Her professional career in the world of bullfighting began with her riding a horse in numerous Spanish bullrings and some in France, turning her into a renowned bullfighter.
In 1969 she traveled to Mexico, where she made her debut as a bullfighter in the city of Monterrey, and she toured America until 1970 when she returned to Spain after receiving a severe goring to the stomach.
Upon returning from her, the validity of the prohibition that prevented women from fighting made Ángela decide to undertake her particular fight to achieve equal rights in the arenas.
She made her debut in Spain as a foot bullfighter on September 15, 1974, which was followed by a winning streak.
She continued with her activity in different places in Spain, however, a set of injuries that she suffered from her forced her to retire; her reappearing in America in 1986 and in Spain in 1990.

Since the beginning of bullfighting, different women from different times and countries have faced men and beasts to win a place of honor within la fiesta brava with displays of talent and courage.
