Description I re-created this guy and he is now improved in his design. So I had to re-take some photos!

In a world in which the aquatic creatures of the oceans have seemingly disappeared, a new specimen has emerged from the unknown depths of these deep dark waters - the mechanical jellyfish.

No longer do these creatures drift along with no brains, carried along with the currents of the water - they have all-seeing red LED eyes, panelled and riveted head caps, and have a tendency to make an electrifying presence with the powerful electricity that surrounds them and radiates from their tentacles.

This lovely and wondrous specimen is created out of polymer clay and finished to look like worn steel. He has two big red LED eyes, panels, rivets, patches, brass detailing and is finished with a polyurethane glaze. His tentacles are made from a vast aray of wires and chain such as black mechanics wire, stainless steel wire, hand-coiled galvanized steel wire, silver plated ballchain, and antique brass link chain with tiny brass teardrops on the ends.

The head of this creature is fully solid, but the tentacles are free to move, dangle, and tangle with eachother. It makes a great necklace, as the chain hangs gracefully down the collarbone. Great for any aquatic creature admirer or steampunk and sci-fi enthusiast!

Completely hand-sculpted from polymer clay.

You're creativity is so original. Really magnificent ideas! And the resemblance you get to metal is uncanny. I wonder if real-metal versions of these could be made.

Can you solder?

I think all the other skills you would need can be learned online for free.

I tried soldering once. But it was a crappy gun. I can always learn, though!

Damn!!! I just spent a long time composing a message with several on line links plus advice where their soldering techniques were not very good. Firefox crashed on me.

If you somehow make it to Oregon let me know. I will teach you how.

It's not that firefox is good. It's more than the other browsers are worse. I'm tempted to try chrome. As I understand how it is structured, the crash I experienced would not have happened. Well, one tab might have crashed, but not the whole browser. And not the tab I was typing into.

Back to soldering: Has Canada outlawed lead based solder? Lead is still legal in the USA. Lead based solder is much easier to work with. (And it isn't necessarily more harmful than Indium based solder. We just have more data on lead.)

Good. High quality solder is probably more important than having a good soldering iron or gun. (I don't recommend Radio Schlock.) Clean, untarnished wires are also very important.
