Transformation fiction often varies, you get ones that are good and sometimes there are ones that basically are either Pooh's Adventures quality or even worse...are pretty much just a bad Saturday Night Live skit with all the random cameos, almost dated jokes, and things that poor attempts at product placement/selling out that would Bill Hicks roll around in his grave. 'Live from New York, it's Saturday Night! Starring the Inklings, one of the waifu chicks from the Fire Emblem games, Spongebob Squarepants, your favorite Marvel characters, and your character's best friends! With special musical guests The Crash Bandicoot Band! And now here's your host...insert-your-character's-name-here!'. See? Those types of ones are really annoying. But luckily we're not going into that territory. Today's story is one that has a bit more class than that. Where to start you ask? Well how about here. Now when you hear the word 'vampire' what character immediately comes to mind? No Twilight, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries or Being Human thank you. That's right, you think of characters like Selene, Jerry Dandrige, Lillith, Hsien-Ko, Vampirella, Akasha, Louis, Lestat, Dracula, and the like. Even though they only exist primarily in fiction, they exist outside of the world of fiction too.

Oakendale, USA was what you might call a supernatural creature's favorite place to live because almost every single week a new monster/villain would invade and it would be up to Melanie Sanders or 'Mel' as she liked to be called - to stop said creatures, she was the designated slayer after all and she was an anthropomorphic koala with dark brown hair and brown eyes, no...she didn't have any kind of sexual diseases your sick little mind may think that koalas have, she was healthy and extremely athletic. She and her best friend Eucalyptus who was the same species as her slayed evil monsters and villains and helped good monsters, both of them had a number of friends. One evening Mel was in her apartment when she was visited by a man named Jack Thomerson, Jack was a friend of Nathan's from his old school days who was known for being a prankster and a lover of horror, he especially loved vampires and often pretended that he was one...he had decided that he wanted to become one himself for real. He arrived at the apartment and was greeted by Eucalyptus, who was very excited to meet him.

"Hey Mel, Jack's here."

"He is? Great! I think it's time I showed him something he really likes."

Jack entered the apartment, inspecting it and gawking in awe at everything...he always wanted to know if haunted places existed and this apartment was just what he thought of when he heard that it was haunted. And this wasn't a scam either, it wasn't a scam and it wasn't one of those dumb ghost-hunting shows you see on the History or Travel channel, this was 100% real. 'Woah...loving this haunted apartment here. I like that you have real monsters and everything.' 'Yep, what you see is what you get and speaking of which.' 'I was about to bring that up. You see I am here because I heard you can give me vampire powers and i've always wanted to be a vampire.' 'Why, we certainly can do that.'

"No fooling?"

"Of course not...we can and will give you the powers of a vampire."

"Yessss! So this isn't a scam or an attempt to sell me anything? I'm not going to get a million advertisements for Flex Seal Tape or anything like that?"

"Of course not...we're not like that all."

"That's awesome. Sign me up. There isn't a contract involved is there?"

'Nah. Besides, contract or no contract at all...we will not bow to any sponsors. Everyone knows that, and besides even though we deal with all sorts of beasts..none of those involve selling out. Isn't that right, Eukie?' 'Yeah, it's like people only do things because they get paid and that's really sad.' The two koala-girls headed over to get Mel's spellbook. 'Now let's see here, you want vampire powers. Ah here we go, vampirication spell.' 'Oooh...how does it work?' 'Well come over here and we'll show you.' Jack obliged as he went over to the corner the two were standing in and adjusted his dark brown hair and also his glasses, his glasses had a bat-print design on the frame and went with his two Lestat pins that were custom made. Mel read the instructions out loud as she poured a red drink that resembled blood into a chalice and she gave it to him.

"So all I need to do is drink this?"

"Yeah...think about the type of vampire you'd like to be and the spell shall take place."

"Alright then."

He carefully placed the chalice up to his mouth and sipped from it, the liquid inside had an exotic taste and it was highly addictive..so much so that he couldn't help but drink the entire thing in one go...a feat that hadn't been done before. As he did, his DNA slowly altered and changed as vampiric blood slowly entered his system in addition to this his fingernails slowly lengthened and his hands shrank..he backed away a little as his arms lengthened, his skin losing imperfections and also becoming slightly pale as his stomach slimmed, his clothing slowly turning into a red and black costume, the costume being reminiscent of a vampire character from a video game that he enjoyed playing. 'Hmm...is it working?' 'Yes it is..but.' 'But what?' 'It looks like you're going to be a female vampire, but you don't seem to be too worried about that.' 'Why would I be worried about it? I've always liked female monster characters.'

"I knew you'd be perfect for this."

"What can I say? I love me some half non-human female characters!"

Which was most certainly true, his attraction to female characters who were part non-human was something he often expressed in his writing and he had a lot of dreams about one particular vampire, that vampire being the one he was transforming into...as his chest and torso slimmed, on the former a pair of round formations known as breasts slowly developed. In addition to this his much longer fingernails gained some red nail-polish as his hips inflated and his privates retracted, his legs lengthened as his feet shrank down in size...he looked down at his body, seeing his much more athletic build seemed to please him quite a bit. There was a slightly crunching sensation as his neckline slimmed and his shoulders folded inward but that was only mild. Mild compared to the kinds of transformations he had seen in horror movies to say the least. As this happened his back arched and his hair turned from dark brown to red, his eyes turned from light blue to a vibrant shade of green as they widened. In addition to this, eyelashes blossomed forth around his eyes as his cheekbones rose, next to this was his lips pluming up and becoming luscious as his nose shrank, his features slowly softening and feminizing and taking on the appearance of the woman he was turning into, he recognized this woman though as she was the main character of the video game he loved so much, she was a human/vamp hybrid with red hair and he knew her name...her name was Rayne.

"I'm turning into my favorite dhampir? This is awesome, thank you."

"No problem. You really know how to rock that look of hers!".

His voice elevated in pitch and tone, softening and becoming feminine as his canine teeth sharpened and extended, resembling what we were known as fangs, perfect for causing damage. A pair of retractable blades popped up from his new gloves, he swirled the blades around and posed for a couple of seconds as his personality and mind altered, giving him her memories and personality and making 'her' think she had always been half-vampire and half-human, she looked over at Mel as the transformation completed itself. She was and always would be the one and only Rayne, she waltzed over to the koala-girls and thanked them. 'Thank you so much.' 'Again, it's no trouble at all. Plus you'll definitely turn some heads and be the envy of those guys who pretend to be vampires online but really aren't.' 'I definitely think that I will be.'

"So what do you think you'll do now?"

"Can I help greet your fans?"

"Absolutely...we could use with someone like you."

'Great...i'll get started on that.' Rayne got started on setting up the apartment for guests and she activated the lever which lead to a secret room which had a den for vampires in it, in addition to this she assisted Mel and Eucalyptus with the tour and thus became a very close ally of theirs and with that the tour began and her fans flocked to see her and to get autographs from her, she posed for photos with them and even showed them some techniques including some useful ones for would-be-vamps in training. It wasn't long until Nathan got to meet her and formed an alliance with her. As for what happened to her later, she spent the night with Mel and also with her fans, embracing who she was - if you were a badass half-vampire, you too would probably embrace it as well. But where would our story be without the ending message? Well absolutely nowhere, so here's the one you've been wanting. The key to story-telling is complex, but remember this very important thing.

Remember, sometimes you don't need things like a complex plot or well-written characters to tell a good story, sure pop culture jokes are nice and all but if there is no context or if it's something that pretty much serves no point in the overall story then you might as well only use one, because when it comes down to it...you don't need elaborate references all the time or celebrity cameos or even product placement, all you need is a wild imagination and to be you...trying to impress other people by being someone other than yourself never works out anyway.
