A flawed great leader. Watergate will keep him down on lists of Presidential greatness for some time, but eventually it will be reevaluated upward. To me, his most interesting attempt at policy: the wage and price controls in 1973 to stop inflation. Nobody had tried this since the Roman Emperor Diocletian around 300 A. D. It failed, but I am impressed he tried it.

Over the years, I've heard many people express some variant on the following concept: "Watergate was terrible, but other than that, Nixon was still a good/decent/great/whatever president."
Both halves of that concept are wrong. Watergate, in fact, was a one-day scandal blown-up to the scale of 9/11 or World War II, but other than that, Nixon was still a lousy/ineffective/mostly-failed president.

Nixion, idk, he was a talented man who did good things. The main reason we look at him as a bad president was the whole water gate thing. I notice with leaders, as more time passes, the more power they get, and sometimes they take the route of courrption.

People get all upset about Watergate, but they forget that Nixon revoked the excessively authoritarian executive orders from the Kennedy Administration. Look up Executive orders 10997-11005 in case you don't know what I'm talking about. It would have been some frightening stuff, if they had ever been used. Nixon became a little paranoid at the end of his term, but God bless him, anyway!
