Four brick walls,
A cacophony of adolescent calls,
Why is this so hard?
This isn't exactly what it seems,
A chorus of discarded pipe dreams
This reality is coming apart at the seams,
There's a rock and you're the hard place,
And of course I'm caught in between.
Turn the engine and off we go,
Looking for somewhere to call our own
A house isn't necessarily a home,
Hoping and waiting that maybe one of these days,
We'll both learn to let go.
It's the middle of a gorgeous summer day,
I'm wishing it was black as night today,
Sparkling hair in misleading light,
For once its time to actually fight.
This heat is choking me to death
And you're avoiding me like there's nothing left,
It seems to me like you're deaf,
Or maybe you've just decided not to hear the words I say
And every day;
Every day I have to think about how things went this way,
Trying to find the words to say that if you give me the chance,
I will do my best to make sure this will all be okay.
I know how hard this is,
And if I don't then I can guess
I can't keep coping with this stress
If I'm somehow better than all the rest,

To be worried that you'll stumble and slip,
