Shelter in the shadows sought,
Anew your reputation wrought,
Filled with cold and loneliness,
Brisk conversations and timelessness,
Armor made to hide your soul,
Forces you to pay a toll,
Your feelings the shadows shall control.

There’s a difference though,
Between the shadows and the void,
And between the void and the abyss.
The shadows hide,
And the void leads to the abyss,
Almost unconditionally,
And while the shadows may lead,
To the void,
It is not often so.

Entrance to the void is easy,
Returning from that place is hard,
For while the shadows blend with the light,
The void only absorbs.

The void will control what you have left,
Until of course there’s nothing left,
At which point you’ll leave the void,
Entering the abyss,
From which there is no escape.
