Beautiful Beaumaris Castle is CADW's Jewel, and the greatest castle never built! Built by King Edward III, he got distracted by trying to conquer Scotland before it was finished. There were then Welsh uprisings and the ownership swung between English and Welsh rule until it became an ivy covered ruin in the 1800's. In the early 1900's its ownership passed CADW and it has been protected ever since.
