You make the ugly beautiful. I love the unique composition where the light is coming in from the right edge and the tree keeps us from leaving the page. The water puddle, the lines in the pavement, the rain shine in the right center all bring us to the glowing heap of wreck. It glows because it is on the edge of darkness and haze from the building behind and that is where the eye next explores.
The low foreground darkness and darkness to the left frame the building with darkness. And the soft depth of the stormy sky and the lit clouds and the wet shiny pavement frame the building with light. The reflected light near the center of the building give it depth and character.
Seeing and exploring the building the eye is always blocked from an exit. Darkness to the left keeps us in. The chimney pulls us up but the dark smoke brings us back, and if that doesn't capture us, the bright clouds pull us down again. The light takes us to a strip of land that brings us back to the building and then the wonderful glowing wreck guarding her home.
The texture of the roof is wonderful, the wooden boards blocking the windows shut us out and protect the building. The broken glass to the left and the graffiti makes us want to explore - my only complaint would be that the center windows are too clean.
The tones and the colors used are stunning, I think you have chosen my favorite palette. I admire greatly what you do and what you have done and this particular piece hits me hard. You make the ugly look beautiful and dramatic - full of character, texture, detail, life.
