Description

Another older oc, kinda been enjoying drawing some of my older less loved characters. This dude is the father of Jake which in turn makes him the relative of a fair chunk of the characters in this .

In terms of personality he is a stern, strict sort of dude. Looks kinda scary due to his demeanour but is generally fairly nice. He's not much of a talker but when he does he tends to have strong opinions and he definitely will not be bullied into saying otherwise.

For a brief history concerning him, he acted as sort of the muscle for his dear friend Russet who controlled a small patch of territory in their home town, which due to his often silent nature earned him the title of Russet's shadow. Both the toms had kits around the same time, most notably Russet having Crook and Mordecai having Jake. Mordecai and Jake did not get along. Jake had dreams of grandeur and a willingness to take whatever steps necessary to achieve that. Mordecai saw through his son's bullshit and pushed back as he felt the tom had a mindset too self absorbed and morally bankrupt to be in any sort of position of power. Early on this lost Jake valuable support in his attempts to start a takeover of their town but despite Morddecai's efforts Jake did start to gain the power he was seeking. Moredcai too while still in Jake's fold, found himself representing the smaller gangs that had fallen into line with Jake's forces after Russet had died, speaking on behalf of their interests to Jake who reluctantly and resentfully had to cater to their wishes to maintain his hold over the other detractors among his forces.

When Jake experienced a challenge to his leadership after experiencing difficulties fighting against one of the last major fronts against Jake taking over the entire town, Mordecai found himself in the position of being the deciding faction as to who would lead the combined gang, Jake or another tom. Despite his apprehensions about Jake he reluctantly chose to side with Jake over the other tom due to believing that as much as he hated that his son would remain in charge, the entire gang would falter without his leadership and result in far more death due to infighting and their opponents using that to their advantage to destroy them.

But the one time he had sided with his son would not be rewarded. Jake saw an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, killing his father in the aftermath of the leadership issue and framing the cat had challenged him as the murderer leading to the tom's banishment as punishment. Mordecai now a spirit felt a lot of regret and shame for his actions having felt his miscalculation had led to the massive unchecked control his son's cruel reign now had. Unable to fully move on Mordecai still watches over his descendants determined to make them understand the cost of his son's actions as well as his own mistakes particularly if they ever happen to come to power once again.
