So the latest villain of 'Sonic IDW' has unveiled their true form. Have to admit, didn't see THAT design coming. Certainly menacing, to say the least...Mimic © IDW Publishing

Fascinating how there is now an official octopus character in the Sonic canon. It'll be interesting to see how this influences future concepts for Sonic OCs. Though since he's clearly a mimic octopus, that would leave it open to doing some things different and not being pigeon-holed by this guy.

A mimic octopus named Mimic the Octopus. I can't get over that.
He's got an interesting design, though. When those black sclera eyes appeared when he was impersonating Sonic, it came off looking so much like... that bad spooky story... that I laughed, but seeing them on his true form, they give him a genuinely eerie look. I haven't read the Tangle & Whisper series myself yet, but i'm liking this addition to the ever-expanding cast of Sonic the Hedgehog.

The mimic octopus; known to imitate as many as sixteen different sea animals by changing how it moves its body, for the purpose of hunting and evading predators. Great idea to use one as an anthropomorphic character on IDW’s part.
