a mathematical breakthrough: you + me = ifor imaginary; let's get real because
the curve of your quadratic smile, a [subset] of my happiness,
touches the y-axis at the vertex of my heart.
factor the radicals and
solve your own problems:
algebra isn't too hard.
when you balance the equation, multiply by
negative one (leaving a positive me)
eventually my irrational love is squared
and i am the outlier.
i don't need a protractor to know
that i am less than what you want me to be.

This is the best thing I've ever read that has to do with math... I think it was really original, and that the theme was not overbearing, but maybe it was a SLIGHT cheesy. Good cheesy, though.

I love this so much. You really are clever with your wording and it seemed so lighthearted and playful. In this line, 'when you balance the equation, divide her out and by' i think you meant multiply by. If not, it seems a little confusing. i think it flows well, and unless someone really doesn't understand math it's not overbearing at all. Great work!

I love this alot!
1) I really enjoyed that you used mathmatical(that how you spell it?) terms in the use of your emotions. It added a certain wit to the poem, but it conveyed a sense that you knew your emotions well enough to convert them into commonly unused words in daily human language.
2) I hate math with a burning passion, but this was enjoyable, so you did great!
3) The flow of the poem became a bit confusing to me when you mentioned, "when you balance the equation, divide her out and by
negative one (leaving a positive me) " because though I could infer that it meant that this boy you want has a girlfriend, but maybe some clarification would've been great, and it would've added some extra awesome to the poem.
Overall, it's really great!

2. Eh, a tad bit overbearing. You can definitely tell it's about math. I still think it was clever though

This made me smile. While it doesn't feel like a serious piece, I think it was creative and for the most part, flowed well. This first few lines of the second stanza were awkward. I absolutely love the last line. Did you consider making that a less than sign? I can't decide whether that would work or not...

It's the ni(need you) that ruins that flow, I think. But I really like the pi reference... :/
"and the circumference of your arms is 360 degrees." sounds just like you're stating the obvious and/or trying to stretch the math theme too far. I'd cut the 360 degrees part and say something about how the "circumference of [their] arms" i.e. a hug, makes you feel? It ties the math back into the emotion, instead of just stating it.
It's probably just the nerd in me that wants the < sign in there. xD It's the same part that wants to make bad calc references after reading this...

lol they probably won't. i mean i did geometry my freshmen year it was really easy. and now im doing trig and precalc, it's really easy. it has a lot to do with triangles
