It was my grandmother's birthday yesterday.She's now 92 years old.
She has alzheimer's.
Even though you no longer remember me, I still love you...

gah... im getting all teary now... sometimes I think about things llike this that happen and I wonder what it would be like to forget the people I love when I am old...
Well, at least she is alive and you can still see her. My grandparents passed on before I was even born, so I dont know what I would be like to lose one, but i imagine it must hurt horribly

I've wondered that too... I mean it's hard to imagine losing someone that was never there in the first place, but there are people who I think of as grandparent-like figures, and wen i think about losing them, thats what I imagine the pain must be like.

I think it's kind of weird though how people usually assume if someone's old, they have Alzheimer's. My great grandmother had it and it was sad seeing how she thought my grandmother was someone else and not knowing any of us before she died. My great grandfather on the other hand, at 98, can remember every single detail. He reminds us young folk of things we forget! O: It's amazing.

Ouch....this struck a chord....my nona has alzehimers as well. I still love her even though she calls me Amber instead of Cameo...Very touching. I love my nona too.

That's a terrible thing to go through. My grandmother had brain cancer, which was hard for everyone because it made her so forgetful.

oh, I'm sorry !! :{ it must suck. my grandmother died three months ago from free-floating cancer at 62. i'm just so happy she's in a better place and no longer suffering

This made me cry (I've been doing that a lot lately); I just found out my grandpa has cancer today, but I am still happy he's living a happy life... yeah I don't know what I"m saying. I'm touched!

this photograph and your words reminded me of my grandmother , she passed away last year , like you said as long as your grandmotheris well and alive thats is good enough , but sometiems we wont know maybe she remembers you, as her beloved grandchild but she just doesnt recgonise you , She looks very loving , ..........
