Mark smiled a bit to me before pulling me into a kiss. There was something about that kiss that startled me. It was overbearing.
I felt an overwhelming passion of all sorts of emotions just washing over me from him: jealousy, longing, anger, sadness, relief, worry, and love.
He pulled away softly before staring into my eyes so deeply. There was something on this mind. I could tell just by his actions; by the emotions he was giving off.
"I've been thinking, Kristine." He spoke softly, as if in a whisper.
"About what?"
"Us."
That word defiantly intrigued me.
"What about us?"
"Exactly." He pulled me close. "Ever since Victor came in all of this stuff has been happening. I'm loosing more and more time with you, romantically. Kristine. If we're dating, I need to start acting more like a boyfriend."
I blinked, slightly shocked. I knew we hadn't really had a whole lot of time, especially with all the stuff that had happened almost instantaneously since I met Mark, but I knew that there was nothing we could do about it. If something came up, our plans would be ruined.
"Then what do you want to do?" I asked, smiling up to him as I leaned against him.
"How about dinner tomorrow night? Just the two of us." He grinned softly, stroking my hair gently.
I nodded.
"That sounds good. It will be a nice break from my exams." I sighed, closing my eyes. Tomorrow was school. And this was the last week. This would be it. My graduation was only two weeks away. Where did all the time go? Had it really been an entire year?
I looked up to Mark and smiled. Maybe I was right about there being something on his mind; in two weeks, he'd change me into a vampire.

The next morning waking up for school was the hardest thing I had ever done in my entire life, even harder than waking up the day before, because I didn’t want to get up.
"Get up, Kristine!" My mother shouted from the door. "Or you'll miss the bus!"
I groaned as I sat up, rubbing my eyes.
"Gawd damn school. Making us wake up at this ungodly hour just because you feel like it." I grumbled as I hoisted myself from the bed and got into my clothes.
I sluggishly dragged my feet into the bathroom then to the kitchen for a quick breakfast.
"I see you're as much of a morning person as you were in Hawaii." A familiar voice cooed and I turned, finding Christopher standing in the corner of the kitchen.
I couldn’t help but smile brightly before I ran over there, hugging him tightly, taking in the sweet smell of him. Oh how I had missed him, and how I hoped he wasn't just a dream the day before.
"I've missed you," I whispered softly as he held me tenderly.
"I have missed you too, Kristine."
"Where have you been?" I asked, looking up to his face. His eyes were still as soft and beautiful as I had remembered them.
Christopher's smile was only faint, but it was always like that.
"Sleeping," He admitted. "You didn’t need me anymore."
"Didn’t need you?" I blinked, a bit surprised at his words. "I always needed you, Christopher. You're like a brother to me."
Christopher smiled a bit more before stroking away from hair from my face.
"You only think you needed me, Kristine. You were never really planning on killing yourself that first year here. You only wish you were."
I went silent. He knew me so well, even if he was sleeping.
"Why did you come back?"
"Because you need me again." Christopher let go of me gently. "And right now, you need to finish getting ready for school." And with that, he was gone.

I groaned as I sat out on the curb, waiting for Mark and Luscious's limo to pull into the school, or something familiar, so he could take me back to his house and we could both get ready for dinner.
He could prepare, while I would go home and take a two-hour nap before getting dressed quickly and having him pick me up.
I smiled.
Gawd that sounded good.
Finally a black viper rolled into school and I smiled. I could always tell which car was Mark's.
I watched as he rolled up and I climbed into the passenger seat.
"You look tired." He chuckled a bit as he began his drive back home.
"I am." I yawned, leaning my head against the window and closing my eyes.
"You should take a nap before dinner. Don’t want you falling asleep in it." He teased.
I giggled a bit.
"Of course." I smiled. "I saw Christopher again this morning."
Mark stayed silent for a moment before looking at me from the corner of his eyes, then back to the road. He didn’t seem to like Christopher much.
"And?" He questioned a bit bitterly.
"He was sleeping while I lived here, until now that is. He says I need him," I carried on, too tired to notice Mark's feelings on the subject before he sighed through his nose.
"Can we not talk about him? Please?" He pleaded.
I turned and looked at him.
"Why?"
"Because," Mark trailed off. "I just don’t like him."
"You haven't met him yet." I was getting a bit defensive. Christopher had saved my life countless times in the past. I would think Mark would be grateful to him.
"He just makes me jealous." Mark confessed.
I blinked.
"Jealous?"
He nodded, his pale cheeks becoming slightly pinked.
I laughed a bit.
"There's no need to be Jealous, Mark." I reassured him. "I'm not into incest."
Mark chuckled a bit.
"It's not that," He went silent for a second. "It's just that he knew you before I did."
I smiled and reached over, gently taking his right hand in mine.
"That doesn’t change anything. I was in Hawaii at the time. We wouldn’t have met anyway."
Mark smiled a bit and nodded slightly. I honestly didn’t know how those words were at all comforting. After they were spoken I realized how depressing they actually were.
The rest of the ride was pretty much silent as I almost fell asleep, then my nap was the greatest thing in creation.
I smiled at my alarm clock when it went off an hour and a half before Mark was going to pick me up for dinner. I never knew only two extra hours of sleep could actually do something for some people.
I pulled myself out of bed and quickly threw off my pajama's and slipped into a short black dress with knee high black stockings that laced up the back, a pair of black boot-like heels, and arm length, black wrist warmers.
I toddled into the bathroom in the heels, trying to keep myself steady. I wasn’t used to wearing shoes like that, but I would get used to it quickly.
I applied my usual eyeliner, and black lipstick before my purple eye shadow around my eyes in its intricate application to make my eyes look like the undead.
I smiled.
I looked like a gothic princess just finishing up for some romantic get away with her bat prince.
I quickly left the bathroom and walked back into my room for accessories, which ended up being silver dangle earrings with little bats on the ends, and crescent moon black lace chocker.
I looked myself over in the mirror real quick before the door rang and I quickly raced from my room and to the door.
"I got it!" I called, opening to the door to find my gothic mate standing behind the screen door. His face changed to shock as he looked over my entire outfit and I opened the door, smiling.
I was hoping to get a reaction like that.
"Wow," He mumbled to himself and I spun for him, showing him the entire outfit. "You look amazing."
I smiled.
"And you are charming as usual." I giggled.
He chuckled a bit and waved to my mother from the window before leading me over to the limo parked on the street.
"I really hope you like our accommodations." Mark smiled. I could tell he was very excited to show me our dinner reservations.
"I'm sure I will." I smiled before looking up and noticing something I hadn't noticed in over four years of my living in North Carolina; my old enemy, Shadow.
I blinked and stared wide eyed as she stood across the street, leaning against the butterfly tree in the neighbors yard.
Her long black hair flowing lavishly down her shoulders and back, her pale skin shinning in the faint light that was left in the sky, and her deep black eyes scorching through my soul as she stared to me angrily.
She was back.
And she brought Christopher with her.
