While pegasi are experts of aerial battle and cloud strategy, and unicorns are experts of fine manipulation of physical matter, earth ponies are experts at using their own bodies to accomplish seemingly physically impossible tasks. A unicorn might have the skill to buck a specific apple from a tree, but only an earth pony can buck hard enough to make every single apple fall in one go without damaging the bark.
Unicorns may excel in stealth, but an earth pony is always the better hitpony.

I know, guns aren't my thing, and I had to move parts around to match with ponies shorter arms and bigger heads. I didn't shift the sights nearly enough and... guh. I'll have to really alter it if I decide to stick with this though.

That drum though..
The weapon is easily synonymous with a Thompson, regardless if you moved the drum between the grips and make it look like it comes out from a slight angle it might look more appropriate.
But that's my opinion based on my love for that weapon.
