Now don't get me wrong, I love Fu dogs, but there's way too many of them kicking around DA these days. There are other beasts of Chinese myth that need love too!

This is the Baku, a spirit of Chinese/Japanese myth that eats the dreams and nightmares of mortals. It was a chimeric creature, with the head of an elephant, the paws of a tiger, and the tail of an ox. It is suspected that the legend of the baku arose as a result of sightings of the Malaysian tapir, a shy piglike animal with a short elephantine trunk, which is why I gave my version of the Baku the head of a tapir instead of an elephant.
