Description Couldn't found a way to upload this with a better resolution.

Along 2015 eventually I worked on ToonBoom studio for different small scenes, and really gave me many headaches, coz it's full of options very hard to handle. Were too easy to ruin a work and to stuck at searching correct moods to do something, and tutorials talks about an
new updated ToonBoom-Harmony, different from the one I'm working on.

After a many tries I learned many basics and other complex effects, and today I was able to do this, which uses most of the effects I wanted
to dominate for a long time; camera movements, layers depth, create loopable cycles and move drawing layers to all directions, even far
from the camera and in angles and many other things.

I'm finally able to do a animation movie!   isn't too much work as I though time ago. This scene was for practice and now I
feel able to do anything, so my brain is really electrical lately conecting new sinapsis.

So I'm preparing a short movie throught all my other responsabilities.

Hope u like this, I have to fix the jump, the tail movement can be done much better.

Great work! Only criticism I have is that when he's about to jump, he doesn't seem to move forward (?) realistically. Seems a bit floaty like he isn't really interacting with the ground at that moment. Either way, it's great. I am working on an animated film series myself and I appreciate when others get into 2D animation.

If i can, could i just say (to help, no harm, i LOVE it);
But i reccomend that you not have the body in the same position through the run ;w;

This is very good. The leap off the cliff reminds me of an old anime cartoon... have you been watching Kimba the White Lion?

Cuanto trabajo!

wow that's great! i think you're a natural! the character is so cute too!

the movement mostly looks natural, but usually when you run like that your arms need to move too.

yeah new software is always a pain to get used to. i've been creating some videos and the video editing software has taken me months to get used to, and i still use only a few of its features.

but keep practicing, if you gotten this far, i think you'll do well as you keep working at it!

ariieve [2016-01-16 04:48:28 +0000 UTC]

quite nice! I really like the layering of the trees and the zoom in as the character runs out. The birds flying in the other direction add some complexity as well.

My main critiques would be that the torso and arms are too stiff, and at the end of the leap, the tail is strobing between 2 frames and it makes it look like he has 2, flashing tails.

aside from that though, quite well done. I know this is just a practice, so feel free to ignore my comments. Just thought id point out some stuff you could improve on

Thanks for your thoughts, I considered these imperfections, I'll try to fix these soon ^^
It was for practice but I'm considering to apply this scene for a short 5 mins movie or so...

Guh, on my connection this animated GIF loads like a snail on the back of a turtle.

It's very pretty though, minus the low color depth.

Cool! What program do you use for the animation? Should I get a good understanding of anatomy before I animate? Teach me Master Moonshen!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Moonshen In reply to Gispike [2016-01-20 21:52:57 +0000 UTC]

I'm using Toon Boom 8
If u are not confident of ur anatomy understoods, It should be usefull to count with a good
graphic information support about the movements you want to do, maybe a direct reference, but for
first time you should look for something simple; maybe just someone sitting on a window, with the legs hanging
and hair blown by the wind, or so.

I am watching some tutorial videos about Toon Boom. It looks really cool. I'm getting excited! Thanks for the advice, I think I will start simple.

MADRE DE DIOS! A movie? With your characters? Maybe of RAIN!?

*Cue HYPER SQUEEE!*

Man, now you've gotten me more hyped than any anime or movie of the whole season.

Can't wait for more updates on this....

Not a prob, man. Even a 10 Min short would be more than enough, and all of your stuff's good so I know I'll like whatever you pick, heh.

Moonshen In reply to Blake81 [2016-01-18 17:29:41 +0000 UTC]

That's a huge project, can't promise something like that for now. Specially being Rain very incoherent as story,  but maybe it can work
as art movie, being every scene like small storys of the visited worlds. I'd like to count with a profesional collaboration in something like that.
Anyway now I have to collect more exp with something smaller.

Está hermoso, sobretodo el fondo y su iluminación, la animación del crío también, igual es un detalle pero encuentro que se ve un poco raro que los brazos no se muevan.

Loose-Id-PEC In reply to Moonshen [2016-01-19 08:35:29 +0000 UTC]

Lol it looks like a smurf but a cooler version. So I could see this being like smurfs but redone with more adult themes occurring in it (like death and jazz (not too crazy just more so then what would be in the smurfs)) I do really like it lol.

This was my reaction too. It's very cool and I don't mean to belittle the artist, but the stiff arms on the character look out of place.
